Hi, Name is Mike Payne. Used to post on here but got 'lost' when the board updated , still read most days though .
Joined the NSRA in 1973/74 after going to the Custom Car Show at Crystel Palace and seeing Pinball Wizard with the body up, and Speed Freak. plus lots of others. Been a member ever since. Joined the committee in 1975 as good distributor and continued on the committe in nearly every job until I retired from the committee when the Supernats started. I was chairman for way too many years and was honoured to be made Honoury President when I retired as chairman.
My Rodding started with a 1949 Triumph Roadster. A Devon Pickup, A 1928 model A phaeton which sadly never got finished . 40 Ford 2 door sedan . 39 ford rumbleseat convertible. and current project 1939 Ford deluxe 4 door convertible. this is only one of 3500 built, since it cost new $700 which was way too much in 1939. This is being built over at my good friend John Hall's garage.
I opened my own gearbox and clutch centre in Guildford in 1973 and i'm always willing to give advice if needed.
Also been a member of our local club Surrey Street Rodders for years . another great bunch of friendly rodders.
I have to say that being a member of the NSRA for all these years has been great fun and I have been lucky to have made so many good friends who share the same obsession with Street rods. Long may it continue.
