Import without title

Thinking of importing a Ford Model A from the States next year. Most that I have seen (in my price range) dont come with a title.
So my question is, has anyone done an import from the States without a title and how hard is it to get it reg' here in the UK.

They will let the car leave the states without a title if its stripped of its doors,motor etc. It then comes as a parts car.
The problem will be the reg' over here, they need the title to proove that the vehicle is what you say it is.
The only other way would be to try an get an owners club to proove that the car/chassis is what you say it is and hope the DVLA are in a good mood.

Russ is right, The U.S. don't like cars leaving without a title unless stripped down to leave as parts. Have a word with Kev Elliot as i'm sure he would be able to help.

Thank you all for the advice, very helpful.

I brought in cars without a V5 from the UK to the States and never had a problem with reg as I had a DMV broker to do the leg work (well worth it, as I never even went to DMV).

I brought back 3 cars from the States with me on my return that had titles and havnt had a problem,(although still havnt sorted out my Stingray) just a bit of leg work, red tape and SVA.
But this is a whole new ball game and it sounds like bringing something in without a title might be a pain, along the lines of buying something here with a V5 or building a 'glass' rod.
So my thoughts are that anything without a title (UNLESS its a real good deal) I may keep clear of and just stick with titled stuff.
If its a stock as stock can be then I will get it MOT'ed and Reg'd here ASAP before doing any changes.

Good, now who's gonna lend me some money or buy my '75 Stingray project ? :)
