Anyone driven a street car with a Long V Gate Shifter?

Looking to change out my exisiting Long shifter and am considering the V Gate Shifter.

This shifter engages the gears going up the box sequentially, to shift down you have to lift a handle positioned in front of of the shifter.

Just looking for anyone with experiance of this unit as to how easy it is to use in a street car and can you shift down gears individually or does it just go back to 1st?

Spoke to Long but not any clearer.

Any advice guys??

I run one in my plastic snake on a 4speed Muncie.

Done thousands of miles with it, commuting into town, foreign holidays, RWYB's and a few trackdays etc and I don't even think twice about gear changes.

You can shift up or down exactly the same as a H gate

Wife drove the car in France one year no probs but most anyone else who's driven my car hates it!

Whereabouts are you? If you're local to me then drop in and try it for yourself.

Shifter has no 'side to side' gate just back and forward.

Lift scissors and move lever forward and your in 1st

From there back is 2nd, forward 3rd, back 4th (no missed gears on the 1/4)

Now back and forward selects 4th and 3rd only

Lift scissors and move lever back and your in 2nd

Scissors up 1st

Lever in middle and you can select reverse with a seperate lever

Any clearer??????

My brother ran a V gate in his `55 Chev for years before he fitted a 6 speed box....he had no problems with it and drove it all the time.

Did he have a bench seat or buckets? The reason for the question is that if you have a bench seat the stick is long and curved (narf narf) and I cant see how you would be able to lift the ring with one hand.

Very happy to be proved wrong!
