Finished this cartoon of Henry Hirise (part of a collection of old Brit rods, kustoms and customs I'm planning on doing) but just can't decide whether to add in the text or leave it out.

Opinions please?

If someone don't know that car....then they shouldn't even be on here...

I've still got (somewhere) the 1st issue of Street Machine with Henry on the cover....

Awesome car, remember seeing it at Chelsea many, many, many, many years ago...without the blower, but still tough as f**k!

Dave, if you are serious about wanting one of these I'll make sure you get one. I'm going to do them as a set of limited edition, numbered prints.

i think it needs 'something else' without the text
but looks 'too much' with the text..

in answer to your question on the thread below about my eye....the antibiotics run out tomorrow and its still slightly swollen although i can see now...so i`ll make the call as to whether i go back to docs then....well actually the wife will make the call as to whether i go back....whatever was i thinking, me have a choice?

To me, and my untrained eye, it does look a little empty around the car. I think the lettering looks OK - or maybe some little fluffy white clouds? ;-)

The text would also depend on what the others in the series have - might look a bit odd if just one has the heading?

BTW, what media? Airbrush? Photoshop?

Good point well made! As Paul says - without, it's art - although it works well as a poster too imho.

Really interested in your methods - you called it a cartoon, what size is it, what paper & pens / brushes etc. do you use?

Also how much will you be selling them for?

I call it a cartoon because of the altered proportions but I got a bit carried away with the painting of it and it all turned out a bit photo-realistic.

The method is digital airbrush. All done in Paint Shop Pro on my trusty PC with a Wacom tablet. It's just the same as using a proper airbrush but without all the cleanup and waiting for things to dry.


Thanks to you all for your input. it seems that some like it with and some without so...

I'm selling prints, A3 size on good quality photographic paper. Price is £30 + P&P and you can choose to have it with text or without. There will only be 25 of these and each will be numbered and signed.

Next one will be started next week (I hope) and is going to be....(drum roll please)...Revenge
