Mk1 Escort Mexico, the car is fitted with a Cosworth YB turbo engine and T-5 manual gearbox. The car has been built to a very high standard, all details can be found on the spec details below.
I have only owned the car for a few months, I purchased it on a bit of a whim, and have since found, as excellent as the car is, its not really my "thing" so I am looking to sell it to hopefully buy a small block Ford powered Mk1 or Mk2 Zephyr/Zodiac or 40's/50's style rod.
The Mexico has been subject to a full restoration in 2004 with many new panels fitted, the car as I understand was reshelled about 5 years ago with a good solid 1300 shell with new wings etc. Although the chassis number shows it to be a genuine Mexico, as does the AA report from 2004. There is also a service book which I believe is genuine to the car showing it was purchased from a Ford dealer in Brokenhurst, Hampshire.
The engine has been subject to a top end rebuild about 500 miles ago, as has the rear axle.
The car comes with a huge file full of receipts for the recent engine work plus the previous restoration parts.

This car is NOT for the faint hearted and is seriously quick. Car has only done about 500 miles since build and is kept covered in a dry garage.
Viewing recommended as the photos just do not do the car justice.
BAD BITS:
Unfortunately in the past couple of weeks the T5 gearbox has developed a problem with 3rd and 4th gear syncro hubs, a common problem with the T5 boxes as I have since found out. I have had a couple of quotes to rebuild the box of around £300 plus vat.
I have reduced the reserve price in an effort to allow for the winning bidder to have the problem sorted.
The car is still perfectly driveable it just causes the box to grate when you change from 3rd to 4th, plus you have to be slowed right down to go from 4th to 3rd. All other gears are fine.
£11,000 OVNO
Ends tomorrow evening.
Really trying to get somewhere near £11k as it owes me much, much more. Bought it on a whim but now realise not really my "thing". Got nothing against Mk1's as I've also got a Mk1 RS2000 that unfortunately I prefer driving much more.
Looking to get something more to my taste.
