There was a thread a while ago, might have been on the Pop Forum, about ally number plate suppliers - well, the Search function didn't find it, so has anyone got a link to it? It might even have been on the old forum? I think Johnny69 posted on it as he queried the 'font' used on this eBay seller's plates: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=230211863786&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=013

Any other recommendations for 'authentic' original style plates? Didn't they have a small block on the border with the manufacturer's name?

That's the one Ian, thanks - I was looking in completely the wrong place (in my defence, I tried a search for 'aluminium number plate' and it seemed to bring up 500 threads using any one of those words!).

My classic UK pressed Ali plates have a small manufacturers `block` on the centre lower edge and were made by Hills.

I got mine when Hills were near Staines, Middlesex.
Unfortunately this site doesn`t show pressed Ali plates but you could contact them...

If you want to be REALLY authentic then don't forget there are two sizes of legal black /silver car character plates with them changing at approx 1963.

Thanks Brian, Hills is the one I was thinking of.

Kev, didn't know that. Can they arrest you for having the wrong period type? :D
