Just got an e-mail form HOTROD magazine selling a 12 issue digital subscription for less than the cost of 1 hard copy issue over here.

$7.00, yep 7 bucks.

Car Craft $6.00

Chevy High Performance $8.50

Mopar Muscle $15.00

And if you've got a laptop you can still read them on the loo.

Might be tempted to try one to see what it's like. Only nagging doubt I have is that most of the US mags have loads of free content on their websites and I don't tend to read that very much, so would I feel the same about an electronic magazine? I suppose for £4 it's not much of a gamble.

Here's a sample / preview, excellent on a big monitor like my 22" one here at work.

The most excellent Benchrace (ezine only - no printed option) is free and issue 3 was out last week :D.

I know some will hate me for saying this (again :eek::eek::p:p:p:D) but it's the way it will all be going such that the printed versions will soon disappear to the most part. I mean, look at the offerings earlier in this thread from the major magazines, what a deal! OK they might be thinking you'll then subscribe to the paper ones, but i very much doubt that's in their business model. They'll be progressively cutting out their printers as volumes fall and prices will then go up so even less printed copies will be bought. Also competing with their distributors (they do anyway with subs ) so those channels will dry up too. Vicious cycle. But they will end up with massive e circulations and as cheap as chips to the subscribers. Sounds pretty good to me. Flame on, it's nearly Friday anyway:rolleyes: :D.

Something for the members section? I'll leave that to others, or AGM?

You're dead right Chris, it's technology, love it or hate it, it is happening.
I'd prefer the printed mag (had Custom Car and American Car World through the post only yesterday in fact) but would easily change over to 'electronic'.

Why bother with a digital version of Hot Rod, Street Rod, Custom Car, or whatever when you can just come here, or the HAMB, or any one of the hundreds of rodding-related websites and forums for free event coverage and car features?

I read R&C and SRM, among others, but can't remember the last time I went to look at any of their additional web content.
