Steve Law started his Speed Shack company out of the back of Ed Turners.

Sounds like it could be the same car! - Reg plate was OXX385
I then crudely put a Rover in it (First time..didnt know better!) and sold it back to Ed-Turners....

I believe they are still in the area, working with Yanks but i don't know where exactly. I used to pop in a lot when in the area & almost bought a steel Y type RV8 sedan from them, first met Steve Law there then as well. Took me ages to realise the significance of the name!!

I remember all the adverts in the back of the mags for the place but never visited , anyone got any pic's of the place as I'd love to know if it was the Palace of Glittering Delights I always imagined it to be , or just a shed with some cars in ;-)

It was a 'showroom' type deal near the railway station in Hayes,
Used to ride past it on my old C15 whan I worked at Heathrow Airport.
I remember standing outside lookingat a candy blue? and red chopped 100e with a rover in it and a Jag axle, which was just out of my price range at that point.
Spent the next couple of weeks looking at it as I want past and scrounging around to get the extra cash together.
Finally got the amount needed, I think it was only £2500, and went back and...

Yup, it was gone.

God, this thread takes me back, I remember all the ads in the mags. I was in UK on business way back when, took a stroll at lunchtime, and stumbled across the showroom. I was gob smacked, not realizing I was in the area, I have vague recollections of a rail on the wall or upstairs (?).I had their business card in my pocket for years aferwards, must have a look for it in the archives.

Ed Turner's... remember it well, I tried to P/X my 32 Roadster for a 5 window coupe back in 88 at Ed Turners, such a cool place in the middle of the shops...

Bit of a trek from Bromley.... but it was like a drive in car show.. COOL :)

Used to spend a lot of time there. It's where I first met Steve. Been mates ever since from his first shop over the bridge to the one where he is now. Quite a few of the old crowd are still involved with Rods' Customs & Drag vehicles like Paul Dickens who runs PDM.

My Yellow 29 ModelA coupe ended up for sale there, always something interesting to look at there.

Great pics - Thanks.

It was actually Ed Turners that got my interest in Rods, I was out in Hayes one night and saw gold Pop....and was gobsmacked...went back every week until I got my first loan to by my 2nd car at 17 from them - the Pop with the 1600 X-flow.

And I bought it!
Completly rebuilt it after fettling the motor some more with a bit of NOS added, had Nick Butler build a 4 link coil sprung watts linkage rear after snapping 3 half shafts in the 9"!
Tied the chassis in with 4" x2" box to replace the inner sills.

Then sold it to a guy who wanted to part it out to use the running gear on his Willys coupe project.
Last time i saw it was painted a minty green

I used to drop by Ed`s quite a lot when it existed, just to check out any new cars in stock.
This is what the premises looks like now. It still has the `deco`ish stepped fascia above the door.
The inside still appears to be the same except a temporary shop is constructed inside on the left which appears to be a mobile phone shop.
Pic taken at 5am this morning on my way home from work.
