In a short space of time, this here Rodding History Forum now has some fantasic threads, pics, words, articles about the early days of rodding and drag racing in the UK.....and by the amount of views replies there is a lot of interest in it.
Wouldn't it be good if the Supernats guest speakers next year were some of our own "Hot Rod" legends?????????
Would they want to do it ????..............i don't know...........but i bet theres enough stories, pics, films etc that could fill a month of evenings......and the Supernats seminars are not that long.
food for thought????

Not sure it would need to be discussed at AGM level... speakers were always discussed and deciced upon at commitee meetings in the past...can see no reason why we shouldn't use home grown talent and certainly would save the nsra some money on the cost of flying in american guests......other than the low flyers who else???? Nick Butler??? how bout Nick from Timetravel??? he's got some great pics and films that would make for a great night.....has anyone been booked yet? - ?? present commitee members or is it being left fo the newbies

it was only a thought...........AGM......mmmmmmmmm, more important issues to sort than the Supernats "speacial guest"....and if they are from the UK next year we could always drive them to the runway next door and have them flown into the showfield in a Sopwith Camel

Really, guest speakers cost money to the club and thats pretty important, cant think whats left to discuss at the AGM that aint been covered on here a 1000 times already!!!!!!!!!, oh yes forgot about the rest of the membership who don,t use this forum, they need to be kept up to speed.
Best i pack an overnight bag:D.
Seriously though its one less thing that an already busy committee will not have to worry about thinking about if a decission was made Sunday.

mmmmm.....you may have a point there fella.........there was a fair hatful of names banded about regarding the Hall of Fame members......if a person was held in such esteem for their contribution to "rodding" and be considered for the possible hall of fame then surely they could talk about "it all"....................if hey wanted to of course.
If there are no such persons then how the hell did we end up where we are??????

how many people watch these seminars ? i never have, are they worth the cost of flying people in ?

Because, unlike America, no one wants to 'big up' somebody else so the moment anyone over here looked like attaining the status of 'legend' everyone would do their best to knock them down. Ya gotta love the British attitude :(

FG:cool:
They may be (have been...) A Devil With a Hammer and Hell With a Torch, but, er, possibly unaccustomed to public speaking! :)
It is a good idea, but may suffer because of the small scene over here? I must admit I have never arrived in time to catch any of the seminars at the Supernationals, but isn't their appeal the chance to hear from someone with tales to tell of far-off lands and adventures?

Yes, now stop shouting at me. :D

I've been to most of the seminars, & I've had a really good time at them. My biggest gripe though, is that there not long enough, especially the ones with Norm Grabowski & the guys from the LA Roadsters, great stories, great pictures, & really nice guys.
Martin
As I missed him at Billing when he was a guest, how about bringing back Chip Foose.
