Yeah; read it. Great stuff.
Ol' Pete writes exactly like he talks!
Makes you nostalgic for all the stuff you could apparently get away with in those days!

A top, top read.
I thought it would make a great movie!
Hi Bri`
I took this photo of Pete and his model 40 at a show near High Wycombe in the early `80s. It`s a beautifully car.
He told me he bought it as the basis for his last stocker, but it was in such good condition, he couldn`t bring himself to race it. Pete is a great guy to talk to when relating his experiences in stock car racing.
I bought his book about 10 years ago, for my brother in law who raced F2 stockers in the early `60s. He used to take me to the old Staines track, home of the `Staines Bulls`, before it closed in about `60-`61.
I remember one passage in the book where he relates about him and some other drivers flat towing their stock cars to a track. When confronted with some steep hills that the tow cars couldn`t haul the stockers up, he jumped into the stocker, fired it up and used it to push the tow car up the hills.
He`s a great guy and his book is an excellent read...

Hi Brizey Yeah he can tell some great stories, when I read his book I had the feeling I was there with him due to way he puts it on paper. I purchased my Ford 8 cabro in 58 & paid £40 for it. Wish Ide known you could by early Ford coupes for the price Pete was paying, at that time I didn`t know early Ford coupes were in England till I went to a Stock car meet......Cheer`s Bri

Is the book only available direct from Pete Tucker? I can't seem to find it in the usual places.

Unfortunatly, Pete`s coupe was/ is a bit of a trailer queen. Though with a car that nice, I can understand why.
At that show he won an award for his car. When he collected it, it was a chromed tow ball mounted on a plaque. :D
He accepted it with good humour...
