Oh God what have we started, oh well, lets kick off with a couple of scans of the old NSVA newsletter's 'Thrap' which I think was short for 'The Rap'. Hey, don't blame me, It was started and named before my time...I have earlier issues but they are just typed and photo copied sheets. By 1978 they had pics on the cover!

http://usera.ImageCave.com/keithyboy/Thrap%202%20(436%20x%20600).jpg
Incidentally, all those cartoons are of vans that were around at the time, the Morris with the gullwing doors was the one built a few years ago by Burnham Autos with the company logo on it, now changed hands.
Next is a scan from Hot Car Magazine featuring TVV taken in a very damp car park in Aylesbury. I believe I'm at the back there somewhere.

From one of the Thrap's here's a report on the first Thames Valley Vans Mud Run written by Thrap Editor and Solo Trucker, Paul Gilbert. Gives you an idea of what went on if you never made it yourself, though as literally the first run of the year, there was always a good showing from Riverside Street Cruisers, Victory Wheelers, etc etc.

Finally for now, here's some odd pics and stuff I found with the other stuff.

Here's some more memorabilia from those days in the shape of some cartoon artwork from the covers of newsletters of the day. At some point the NSVA newsletter changed name from 'Thrap' to 'Vanews', I can't remember why.
By the 1980's it had also became smaller in format and featured cover artwork from Martin Thoene who was member of Solo Truckers from South London and was also NSVA Chairman from 1977-78. His detailed drawings owe a lot to Street Rodder artist Dave Bell. Here's a couple of favourites. Yes, that's familiar Shakey drag racer Wobbly Bob on one of the covers.
http://usera.ImageCave.com/keithyboy/Vanews%20Scans%20001%20(600%20x%20429).jpg
Meanwhile over at Thames Valley Vans, we had our own newsletter called 'Vanners Views', it featured ex-Riverside Street Cruisers member, talented drinker, signwriter and pin striper, John Brown. John's Cresta Pick-up is one of the cut out images on my last post and John was a true character of the scene. No-one knows what happened to John, he disappeared off the radar some years ago and is believed missing in action. Permanently. RIP John.
As a tribute here are some of his magazine cover artworks of a somewhat racy nature. One featuring a rare self portrait of John himself. Owners of children, small dogs and delicate wives may want to look away now.

I didn't remember this one from your description, but then I found this page from an old CC amongst some cuttings.
I haven't got any other details on it at present but I think it was in a special CC van issue in around 1979.

Invader, owned by George Smith?,
about 20 years ago it was taken into kwik fit in Old st, central London,
for some tyres or exhaust work?
the owner never came to collect it after several weeks and apparently not being
able to contact the owner the kwik fit guys simply dumped it on the street outside,
central London being what it is, within days it was gone, council? police??????????

Remember The Worrier...sorry Jesty, the Warrior, by Steve Jest...probably one of the best 'van painters' of the time. Fantastic murals and graphics. And of course, the very unfortunately named, John Thomas and his Transit; Pete Aughtons Thames; Andy Smith (Smurf) Blue VW.
didn't Pete Aughton emigrate to New Zealand or Australia several years ago.

Jesty did the last paintjob I had done on the F100 Panel, just straight red, it was done in early 1985 and was still good when Nitro T-shirts had the truck a few years back.

That CF was built and owned by Eddie Coles from Pucklechurch near Bristol, it had a chrome Jag rear end and won a lot of pots in its day.
Eddie then built a Ford F1 Pick-up which he owned for a few years, Hersham Bob found it a couple of years ago in Surrey, put it back on the road and sold it on.

Sorry Cha7z, I've failed you there, don't know.
When I think yellow CF I think of, Wobbly Bob's, Capt Kremmen's which was a Rover V8 powered one on the road in 1980, and a cool LWB one with Las Vegas murals that I only saw once at the '78 Truck-In at Steeple Claydon.
