Back in the late Seventies at rod runs all over the country, no saturday night in the marquee was complete without Smoke City's famous Pyramid.
Here's a great shot of the boys in action with various volunteers from other clubs, can you name any of these loonies? That's Roger Warren with his back to the camera and 'The Colonel' on the top any others?

I think the curly headed (and good looking one if you could only see him) on the 2nd row was me...and i think the one at the end with a leather jacket on may be a lad from
Orwell Valley/Insanity Vans called...blox, can't remember his name...it'll comre back to me..
Or of course , i may be completely wrong
I can vouch for the smoke city pyramids still being active in the eighties and early nineties,
usually i was sent to the top partly due to fat drunks not too good at climbing,
also when it collapsed, as it always did, being lightweight as i am kept the injuries to a minimum to those below.

Actually, Kapri may remember him as that's an original yellow Victory Wheelers T-shirt he's wearing, I haven't the foggiest who he is myself. The pic was taken at the Thames Valley Mud Run in 1979 by an unknown local photographer who handed me it at a club night.

What year was it that the same smoke city wheelers blew up half the field at victory wheelers with "commercial grade" fireworks - local police thought it was a terrorist attack:D:D

That spectacular was put on by Robin J & Paul T (Olds Cutlass), it wasn't commercial grade firworks, it was proper explosive gelegnite or however you spell it. Best display & bang I have ever heard :D :D
Robin & Paul were always up to crazy things, I remember one run where they had bought the stock from a sex shop that was closing down & were distributing & using where ever possible. Doesn't sound as funny the way I have written it, but was hilarious, guess its one of those where you had to be there.

You're not wrong there, Smoke City were the original Naturist Custom Club, but imagine looking up and seeing this approaching......
