I've got a projector and screen :)

I'm sure there are places that can convert them to prints or onto disc.

So has my Dad, for it's his pics, I was only trusted with a box brownie at that age...

I will ask him to dig some out, we are going there for Christmas, and I will see if I can borrow some....

The 'Pod from the first ever event, Bingley Halls, Milton Keynes shopping centre, Long Marston meets where the 'stands' were a lorry trailer.........

Hmmm, the good old days.....;)

Hah. Johnny come latelys. Some people remember when the stands were old ww2 pontoons and the track ran the wrong way...

I'm sure Shakespeare and Hemi331 will be along shortly with ye olde tales of yore. ;)
I also have loads of Bingley Hall photos, mostly slides or b&w negs, archived in my temperature controlled archive library. (common translation, when I get time, I must open up those cardboard boxes in the loft and have a look).

Well you could do that but take a look at these first. This is all I can find for the moment taken from one or more of the famous Birmingham Bingley Hall Custom Car Shows. Sorry that they are all black and white but I have an album at my dads of colour shots including photos of a wet T-shirt competition featuring the SCCA girls from Sweden. I will try and get that album at the weekend.

That will be Baz Young who I knew from Birmingham when he drove the 'Rat Fink' Comp Altered and the 'Desperando' Pro Comp front engined dragster in the mid seventies. Also played crew man with Tony Froome's 'Sundance' Top Fuel dragster. You know, the one with star's and stripe's painted all over it and looked like a copy of one of TV Tommy Ivo's Top Fuel Dragsters but ran much quicker!

Those pics are from 1980 behind the blue T is Al Maiden's convertible Consul Capri, he built the couped Devon after that show.

Little background I remembered, He, like many finished the car at the very last minuite and the trailer he was going to use broke so he called the organisers for help and one of the Swedish exibitors came to his house in Stafford in a big rig and picked it up for him.

A fond memory of meeting the U.K.'s most bouyant yachtie and Cadburys fan Tony Bullimore.
A great chap, even put a show on when the Bingley Hall half burned down; threw a few buggys on the debris in the middle of the main hall where the roof came in and made an exhibit of it. Pete 'n' Jake, those 3 ZZ Top vid's projected at better than life size (when they had only released one at the time) and those outtakes from California Kid, talk about use and abuse!!

USELESS FACT:- Bingley Hall Brum had the Midlands biggest Gas meter. Not featured in the fire though!

This has got to be a contender for oldest rodded Y type, as I have pics of it from the very early 60s when it was "oop norf"!

The 32 roadster driving out of the hall is Bob Wellstead's which was later bought by MSR members, Ian Mac (black Chevy panel) & then Howard Bolton. Where is it now?

All in jest Maurice, you posted the pic of the Y along with Ken Cooper's Model 40 Cabriolet on your early BHRA thread. It was captioned that Ken was from Birmingham, which was true and the owner of the Y was from Manchester. I'm sure when Ray Hill aquired the car it had been midlands based for a fair time though.

We may have our wires crossed Ian. :)
My Aunt's name is Sue. She and my uncle Clive (who sold Barry Timms his pop and bought Roy Wildings v6 one) bought the Austin when it was partially stripped and languishing in John William's truck yard. Over 20 years ago now so couldn't have been long after these pictures.
I'm not sure if it was Wayne they bought it off but he did build it the way it is shown here. I will have to check with them.

My mate bought this van and I remember driving it a lot, very fast! unfortunately it was stripped for a rebuild that never happened and ended its days in a field in felixstowe as a chicken shed!! what a waste!!

Surely this:

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa202/ijarm/Bingley%20Hall/fc3b43b0.jpg

Must be this car

When it was first imported - it's still on it's old plates.

Stance .. Sidelight placement.. it must be the same car.

Mart.

Well spotted Mart, those must have been gen US plates at Bingley,i don't think you could get them made back then.

Sad end to Daves Dodge Trevor,is it still there or is it dead.

If my memory is correct they were Canadian Plates and the car was owned by Robbie Stirling.

Brings back memories. I went to those shows, and took loads of piccies. I think they all got dumped when having a "rationalisation" due to moving house. Bingley Hall was a dump, but they had some good shows there.

Were these Roger hamilton's pick up?

Is that John Barr in the background?
http://usera.ImageCave.com/john56/012.JPG

The date on these says 1975. Shows and cars like these confirmed my desire to have a rod.

Not sure if that is John Barr, was he that slim then Alan ? i always remember him a bit plumper than that even then, but he rarely strayed from his Capri very far ,so maybe.

I think it is John Ian, bear in mind that back then we were all seven stone weaklings, wringing wet! John did get progressively bigger as time went on. If it isn't John then the poor bu66er wouldn't have survived on that side of the fence for long.:)

You can tell it's captain Scarlet's car because he hasn't bothered to sweep up around it and that is definitely John Barr...
