The nicest Mk 2 of recent years is/was a stretched 460ci maroon 1600E that I think was owned by a guy called Mcleod I seem to remember; possibly a member of BHRA.

Haven't seen it for a while; still makes me a bit moist.....

it got about 5" in the front wings behind the front wheel, so it is streched really

It was built by Colin Freeman, he sold it to Ian McCloud, they were both members of our club, the BHRCC. The car was painted Amber Gold when it was first built, pretty sure it was Ian that had it painted the Vauxhall Bourdeux red it is now. Ian threw a shedload of money at it to make it the car it is now.

Ha-ha cherished,I've even seen Mick cleaning it while it's still raining:D
He must of owned it for 10 years or more now, still gets driven in anger
Clever front end as well, bonnet opens like normal or whole front end flips up

I went to the Northern Nationals with Bob1 many years ago (83/84) and while we were there Brian Whitfield took us to see a friend of his who had built a RV8 powered Mk2.

As I said it was a long time ago but I'm sure it was a 1600E in either Silver Fox or that pale metallic blue on chrome rostyles. It was a super clean car and superbly executed transplant , there wasn't a hint of any chrome or polished metal in the engine bay everything being painted in factory colours , even had a stock type air cleaner.

With the bonnet closed it just looked like a well restored 1600E , cool sleeper . I'm sure I've got a couple of pics somewhere I'll try and find , anybody else remember the car .

Colin Freemans expert work on the 460 bbf cortina has proved how well cars are engineered here in the uk compared to some i could mention!
I have mot,d this cortina myself since 1997 for the present owner,Bumpkin County Cruisers Mick"wheres the bar"Patey, who has preserved this vehicle superbly! He even let me take it down the track at Avon Park back in 1998,what an experience that was!
The front wings are extended in steel and the car still gets driven hard as much as poss!
Major credit goes out to;
Colin Freeman for building such a well engineered car.!
Ian for selling it to Mick!
and the present owner Mick"polish it a bit more"Patey for looking after it for the last 12 years!
Will he sell it?
Yes everything for sell! but pre warn regions of £85,000 may be needed!
he absolutely loves it!
