There must have been quite a few done over the years, I used to own OCA234 ,the black Rover V8 A30, built, and abused in burnout competitions by Mark Stacey.
Here's a few to start things off.

Is that the mad Belgiam bloke who built the wild a35 inside a block of flats,10 storeys up and then had to have it craned out of his window ,trailered it to the uk,ran it down the track and blew the axle out of it,on which Andy Robinson came to the rescue? What a story!

The red one 994 ATT above was built by Jason Warren, I think it was the car he learned to drive on ,first time I saw it it had a 1275cc A series engine.Jason fitted the blown V6 and Jag rear sometime around 84ish ,he still owns the car and it looks as good now as it did then, he also has a chopped pro street one which was never quite finished and a very rare A30 pickup one of only 6.

was the red one originally blue by any chance, looks like one built by Andy Park from up here many moons ago sure that was 1275, manual box, original rear with the springs above the axle instad of under , was a reliable well built car. he sold it in the early 80`s an it`s never been seen again

When I first saw it it was pale blue with dark blue flames, must have been around 1981 _ 1983.

as if by magic this thread appears, i have just purchased a 1955 A30 from a bloke who was happy for it to be modied as long as it remained on the street, the intension is to keep the A series in it but go the 1275 route twin carbs etc, question is what is the rear axle width, (to save me wandering around to the garage) the body was restored about 4 years ago and apart from a few little blisters on the lower front wing & valance the car is in really good condition and i feel after having pops & zephyr & moggies , i think this is something really different to do, so any ideas or info on these little gems would be great, steve

Steve if my crap memory serves me right, the front suspension is the same as MG Midget/Sprites, so spares and disc brakes a easy swap, pretty sure axle would be the same.

Didn't expect to see this on here.
I have just bought a 54 A30 to use as a daily.
Just starting on it, nothing radical, fitting a mild 1098 engine and Minor 4.22 diff from Mark Bulls drag car project. Needs a little welding.
Aiming for a historic rally car look rather than a rod.
Biggest issue I am finding is brakes stock A30/35 stuff is an arm and leg £60 for wheel cylinders and there is 2 on each of the front drums and a mechanical rear set-up driven by a frame cylinder.

Cracking thread Gromit. :)

I had a A35 in 1976, was green, was made up from 2. unfortunately some "idiot" smashed into it at Centre Point in London, he "forgot" to go back to prison after a weekend release and got chased, took the front wing right off.

Love looking at the pictures .....

Midget front discs is an easy swap on it's own but Austin master cylinder not man enough which means changing to a midget one, which means re-locating the battery and changing pedals.

The midget rear axle is same but brakes are hydraulic so will need changes from the A35 Lockheed system here and a new handbrake mechanism fabricating. Easiest way is to put the midget diff and halfshafts into the Austin axle straight swap retaining the Austin rear brakes which are OK.
