The real question should be- whatever happened to the real Dorset the mould was taken off!

Im trying to remember a bit of a odd link about this car, When I had my Devon Woodie, Dave Lowe gave me a spare pair of door handles as mine were ****ed, only after I sold the car on did he tell me the handles were originally from Devon Cream, so there is now a link from ROD401 to OWD---

Door handles - I bought them off Pete Cranes dad, he had an autojumble stall at a classic car meet at Sandown park racecourse, he said they were the spare ones for Devoncream, I didnt notice the handles at first, my eye was caught by the 39 Ford head lamp glasses on the stall !
the original car was scraped so i have been told

Hi All.
Pete Crane told me recently that Len Beech still owns ROD40!
I sold it to him c1976 before I came to the US.
Pete says it is in a similar condition to when he sold it to me, ie needing lotsa work.
Check my other post to see the picture, with others of Devon Cream
after I completed it. Yes I know it's actually a Dorset but who cares?
BTW, Then Santa Pod owner Bob Phelp's Fibreglass Repairs in Bromley made the body.
Regards to all,
Cliff Jones
P.S. I guess I qualify as a founder member of NSRA.
I worked with Alan Wigmore of the NDRC in the early days of the Roadster Register.
didnt we have a thread about this some while back - wasnt the mould destroyed on a bonfire at the pod??

Not quite accurate. I was at Sandown Park all those years ago. It wasn't my dad it was either me or Mike Knapman, both of us a lot younger than my dad. stall. It was Mike's stall I was sharing.

That sounds more like Mike K., must give him a ring (even though he's only in the next road but 2!!) & see how he's doing with his Allards.

Sorry bout that Pete! I thought the guy I bought them off told me he was the dad in the conversation?
What happened to the Dorset the mould came off ? I have wanted to know this for as long as I can remember!

I used the chassis ,but the body was so badly corroded it was scrapped after the mould was taken. Len told me that only a few years ago when he tried to buy the moulds from FGR he discovered he was too late they had been burnt!
