fone call this morning from my father about 8ish.

'did you leave the garages unlocked' - me 'no'.
'best you get up here then cos there all f@*?*!g unlocked now'

every bleeding garage & shed broken into, either by cutting the locks or cutting the staples. Also broke into 1 of the containers by snapping the lock either with a bar or with hydraulics.
Seems they drove over the farmers fields into the back garden, parked up, cut the back gate yard lock, smashed the security lites and had a ball. They were round the front of the house too but didnt bother with the garage round there but cut the lock to the gate to get to it.

And all they took.. a bleeding strimmer and a chainsaw.. but left the welder, the chopsaw, transformer and all the other tools.

Police was a waste of time, Insurance company want to send an assessor out to check. but in the meantime we were told to make it as safe as possible but not too change too much. Dont think you need to hear the answer we gave em....

Still made a nice change to not have to talk about the weather with people...............

Complete barstewards mate, i have every sympathy, my home was broken into last summer and it sucks, the worst feeling you can imagine knowing someone has had there grubby paws on your personal items.
Hope they rot in hell.

had 1 of my lock ups broken in to,they nicked all the alloy they could find but left a stolen computer?now all my garages have cheap but very effective alarms in them.look in aldi/lidle etc cost about 10>15 and a change of battery every year.and ive always got 2 locking systems on each door.sure they can still get in if they want to but it slows them down.

Glad to see there was not t much taken still a P*ss*r all the same. I think its time for an alarm. If you have a landline there you can fit an autodialer that will phone your moble if it goes into alarm.

there are autodialer alarms that have a built in SIM card so you dont need a landline at the property or a phone line that can be cut.

bad news but at least you were lucky in a sence and a s red victor said wire up to the mains use household implements in your fight against crime and garden ones to car springs make a dent when they hit you under load etc all sorts of nice things you can do look what the kid in home alone got upto hope you get it sorted out and as you said the insurance companys are a waste of time

its looks like i'll be getting the dogs & an alarm... and try to shield the locks from being cut.

I use to know quite a few of the local travellers a couple years back, but theyve gone onto pastures greener and it seems been replaced by a shower of sh!te.

they must of been making a hell of a racket, the bolster i had to hammer out from the other side of the door to remove it

We had our shed done over three years ago and my boys christmas presents nicked :mad: two brand new gopeds,
when i wanted an alarm for the garage i knew just what i was looking for....mains with backup, door and window sensors on different chanels, kin load alarm that go's off if power cut, all the shops wanted around £150-£200 ended up getting one from a shopping chanel for under £40:) that does the lot and a very well known brand, worth a look ;)

i remember about 20 yrs ago when a burglar took out all the mastic and that from the back of a neighbours house one night then went back the next night to take the whole window out and rob the place..........only thing was the neighbours noticed what had happened and they all waited in the dark for him to get into the house, and they battered the cr4p out of him and then policed turned up and knicked him for burglary.......................wouldnt happen nowdays.........hed get off and the police would knick them for assult.....................worlds gone made i tell ya...............me i got a nice ally baseball bat that talks very well..................toad

Glad that not too much was taken, but still doesn't alter the fact that your property has been violated, which I know is a gut wrenching feeling.

The thing about alarms is they are only usually thought of after the event.
Looking at those doors, it looks like they are prime for some steel sheets on insides, and van type security locks fitted. Any hasp and staple can be bolt cuttered, but when there is no access to hasp or staple, that's difficult.

Also fit an extra hinge on each door, upside down, to stop doors being lifted up.

know its not much help but there is a garage alarm that you could fit. ie its like a panic alarm as soon as the door opens it goes off and battery operated..............toad

Sorry to hear about the break in and bloody glad that they didn't get away with too much. It's a real gut wrencher when some little ***** thinks he can take what he wants from someone who's worked so hard for it.

Few years back my daily, my girlfriends car and my brothers were all done in one night. Stereos, door locks, windows etc etc gone. I was so angry I felt sick. I wanted to replace my girlfriend's stereo and scanned the local free ads, turns out a young local guy had a couple he was selling! Long story short I had him nicked, got my girlfriend's back (traced with serial no's). Anyway I put a claim in to cover my damage, speakers, stereo........courts awarded me about 1/2 the amount payable in installments. Waste of bloody time... 1st and only time I really wanted to hurt somebody

Truly sorry to see that, was burgled a few years back and the sickener was I was asleep in the house at the time. It does leave a nasty taste, even though insurance covered what was taken. They even loaded the GF's car and took that to carry what they had stolen!

I don't normally roll with the vigilante minded but seeing as the location seems to be remote, I'd be tempted to stake it out and see if anyone returns - if only to "incapacitate" them, and then have them nicked. Like toad said though, if you hurt him/her/it they may well get off so make sure anything done is permanent and impairs their ability to see/talk/use their hands. There is nothing worse than a thief.

When my dogs bit the tw@t that tried to get in my house the coppers told me to buy them a steak each and i wouldnt be prosecuted as i had SIGNS up warning that dogs are here ;) (they didnt catch him tho)

a mate had a few spares up for sale , i guy come over , was not what he wanted , two week later the workshop was broken it too, and the spares were gone ???? were ask , but no was nick for it ????

Put carpet gripper rod on the INSIDE edge of every fence / wall / door tops ect, so its only when somebodys hand goes over into your property, that they come into contact with it. Keep checking untill you find some fingertips ! Because its on the inside edge, the plod & cat owning little old lady, wont get upset. (oh & hide BIG nails in 3 x 2 in all the long grass ect lol)
