Are these parts including or excluding VAT?
Do you have a shop where the parts can be seen?

I was going to have that front end complete but as Dusty said I have a gut feeling it may belong to someone else.
Maybe people should hold off buying some of this stuff until the muddy waters clear a little.

how does this look?
im assuming you all think that i have a lot of stuff that "has been stolen from customers" and im selling it on?
this is all my stuff which i bought to build a project but im selling it so i can buy a house. which i think is a better idea at the moment.
if anyone has any unsolved disputes do not try and settle them through me. i have nothing to do with the situation and would prefer to be left out of it. i know that the insolvency company will not take projects belong to customers, they cant. period.

you already sold parts from rodline and someone else has mentioned they thought you sold a '34 body which was exactly the same as theirs but you ignored the guys questions about it.
sorry i think it looks really iffy and if i was someone who was owed money/parts from rodline i would be on the phone right now.

Liam, the fact you put SHOP clearout also sends out the wrong message.
Can you please answer Dustys question as to what shop in Bristol you work/worked at? Saying you have connections with John Grubb but not Rodline could be seen by some to be playing with words inasmuch as John Grubb is no longer Rodline. It does seem a rather varied collection of very reasonably priced parts for one project.

liam here is the post http://www.nsra.org.uk/newforum/showthread.php?t=18890 - g3nge said it was exactly the same as his but you ignored him.
your say your body was a '34 but all the parts you are selling are from '32s - they parts dont fit. the chassis you sold was from a '37 - which wont go under a '32 or '34 - lots of mismatched parts and all from rodline - no wonder people are wary

I think you are rather leaving yourself open . I'd have waited until all customers with cars and parts outstanding from the defunct company were accounted for.
This isn't the first time the question has been asked though re your involvement with Rodline though is it ?
Are you the Liam that I met in Johns Shop and at a show, his daughters boy friend?
A lot of the items on your list are parts I paid John for and never got. Seems a bit odd to me.
I think we all know the shop you are clearing out!
have you got receipts for these new parts?
Alcoholic Rat
02-02-09, 10:33 PM
Now lets play fair.
Liam , a lot of the parts advertised are listed as new, so me thinks you must obviously have receipts from the suppliers for these parts and therefore the receipts will be in your name.
This being the case im sure many rodders would rethink and buy your parts upon viewing these genuine receipts , it would prove that you are honest and no naughtyness is going on here.
Dazz
I noticed it was also mentioned the prices include VAT. So are you VAT registered then? If so can we have the reg no....
I think most of us are playing very fairly Dazzzzz, I only asked for the name of the shop he works for, I'm awaiting a reply.
speedemon
02-02-09, 10:39 PM
Might it be worth passing this list of parts onto the police and getting it checked out , that would clear things up and liamslost should have receiplts for all this bits that would clear the way for anyone to buy the parts with a clear consience
And liamslot you refer to John as a friend, why not get him to come on here and explain to everyone whats happened to the money, parts and cars he has of there`s
I am not saying the parts are stolen property , but see it from the other side if you had not received your goods and there was a list of stuff for sale with someone in contact with Mr Grubb

no tis not the first time ive been asked if im anything to do with rodline and to be fair, i dont want to gegt involved in the situation as its nothing to do with it.
you dont know the shop im clearing out, you think you do. you know whatever you paid for probably isnt the only one in the world.
i do have a lot of reciepts, anyone actually interested can see them as soon as i get pictures but things i paid cash for such as axles and some other parts i dont.

this is my ? post a photo , then person can see who you are , is you girl friend who we think she is , if so you got balls come on this site ,
do you no were john is ??? if spare you sell are from rodline you can sell them as there not yours ,
give to the poeple who ha ve pay ,,, i full like rodline has gone to f- - - ass holes , i had a body years ago from chris who start it , what a great guy , he work hard , now look at it
It is a rare thing on this site where the many are against the few,and i have to say, that reading all the replys on here can only agree with the fact that if the seller had only answered a few of the questions properly and not in riddles, would have avoided all this negative(although justified) responces,so,do yourself a favour, and answer Dusty's and the others questions,me,on the bassis of your,as it were, politican type answers would'nt touch anything your selling, you come across as bent.

I don't think anyone has made any threats against or towards you. The fact is, you are being vague with the answers to some quetions and that makes people feel unsure of the origin of the parts you are selling.
You also say that VAT is included, and this does not imply that there's not VAT, it does imply that VAT is included in the listed selling price.
This coming from someone who IS conected to John Grubb will make people nervous and ask questions that they expect proper answers too.
I do hope you have the right to sell these items and would like to see the proof of purchase.

I think to keep this thread from deteriorating further and therefore being locked or removed, keep the questions pertinent and civil.
Liam, you worked at Rodline "occasionally", that gives you an inside view.
I dealt with John once and was very happy with the service, things obviously have gone awry since. You know the history and therefore must be aware of the grievances some people on here have with John.
Your ads timing is frankly apalling.
Maybe with your inside knowledge and "without prejudice", you could answer some of the other posters questions. May seem unfair for a young lad to have to do that, but John owes that to some here.
If you are clearing parts for or on behalf of John, surely you can see where people may go with that. It's not on.
Are customers' cars still at the premises? Is there access?
Maybe other posters should consider their purchases too.
These bargains may be tainted.
if hard work then ,please can we have the guy cash back , or is hi john
poeple on this site work hard to build rods , and money is free , so if you got balls give it back , you maybe got the up hand today , but there all a new today , may be you meet the devil which you stole from ,,,
get back to the ? were did all the parts come from ??? you most have spend a lot of cash ,
if you who you say your are good look sell you part /

i worked im my ex brother in laws garage on a saturday morning, many years ago as an apprentice machinist i used to earn extra money by working on the cylinder boring machines and crank grinding machines, there would always be a bloke in his van every saturday afternoon call in and offer to sell 'snap on' and 'mac' tools at greatly reduced prices, as an apprentice and earning peanuts the temptation was always there to buy these tools, what stopped me from buying them was the ground off part numbers and names (a lot of mechanics would engrave their name on their tools) you knew they were 'dodgy' and you stayed away from them, as you knew a fellow mechanic had his tool collection stolen, why support the thieves!! i'm not saying these parts are 'dodgy' or 'stolen' but i'd certainly give them a miss

Mike, Thats very 'noble' of you! I'll stump up £50.oo of fuel to help YOU out if anyone can retrieve what is theirs from this debarcle.
It's a shame no one actually had the forethought to arrange a 'viewing' of these parts before the fan was suitably covered in doo doo. If they are still in situ and available for inspection we can maybe assume the ad is genuine. If they are no longer available, the conclusion is not hard to draw. Never a phone number, never a pic of the parts.
Anyone been through the post history. Every one made was a parts for sale apart from the intro. No other section of the forum. If the band wagon is passing by Bristol put your foot down I think it's heading in the right direction.

With the income needed to purchase all these parts and now sell them at a loss & only in 4 months I don't care what Al says. I want your CV to apply for the job you got.

unreal........even if the seller is legitimised, would you touch ANY of the stuff after all this.....simple questions asked and no proper replies........a part time worker at the aforemention establishment selling his own project stuff who knows an awful lot about the "whole affair". Seems very brazen as well........no matter what styles, techniques or personal opionions the memebers of the forum have, i think we have situation here that everyone would agree on
i really hope that the guys who are outta pocket here get whats owed.

It's interesting that you found that feature Ross as I had moved it to the archive as John didn't pay his advertising bill and charity only extends so far. However, if it helps others to chase what may rightfully be their property then I'm pleased it offers some visual reference.
Andy, I had it saved to my faves as I was interested in a Willys body. It still comes up on Google too though.

Only just seen this and i'm surprised that Liam has posted these parts up at this point in time as it certainly looks a bit dodgy to me.
I would suggest that someone should go look at the parts and see if the facts posted by a very in the know 20 year old tie up, then whilst there ask the same questions again and see if the answers are the same :o
I recently answered one of Liams parts for sale ads but after initial contact he appeared to not want to deal with me anymore, Couldn't understand it at first but this thread makes it start to make sense, Make your own mind up from that

I have need to justify anything to you. i work full time and work hard. Ive got a lot of things yes. But all is legit. Im not too fussed if i sell it on here or not. I will say i dont want it anymore now. Everyone on here says how new blood is needed to carry this onbut if this is how you treat them im not suprised this is dieing on its feet.
Yeah, i have made little or no posts in the rest of the forum cause i dont want to get involved with most of the people on here. Im too busy working on my cars, like most of you should be. Right? Is that not what its about?
Talking of legalities then. I wonder how legal a lot of the registration on a lot of cars on here is? I know a few people who wpuld get in ****. lets hope noone informs the DVLA, hey? ;)

Liam, i don't think i have met you, as i didn't get to as many of the Bristol pub meets last years as i would have liked. However, I'm going to be working in Bristol this afternoon, and I've got a camera in the car. I'd be more than happy to pop round at a suitable time, get some pics, put pepole's minds at rest, and clear your reputation up (not that it should need it of course, but your timing to sell this stuff is a little off, i'm sure you'll admit.)
If thats any use to you (or anyone else), please give me a ring on 07792 886064, i can easy find a spare hour this afternoon to help out

How delightful to see that those closely associated with Grubb are treated in the same way he treated others............what goes aorund comes around...:)
The timing couldn't have been worse in fairness and IF these are for sale innocently, I would have thought anybody with a modicum of tact would have waited a little longer to part these out, especially somebody closely involved with the detritus that is Grubb.
Absolutely brilliant to see rodders standing by one another and telling it like it is and not buying these parts.
Renews your faith in human nature to see this kind of brotherhood, especially when specimens like Grubb try so desperately to destroy that faith with mindless greed and lies.
Thanks. Im sure your trying to help but i have pictures and are available upon request of a serious enquiry.

You seem to forget you are dealing with a community here and that if you sh*t on one person, the rest find out very quickly. For you to so blatantly say you don't care about people's feelings and that your not here to make friends says a lot about your motives and personality.

Yeah you can have them if you want but im out today. I can do a little bit later in the week though?
Pm me if you can
I cannot believe that this kid is still answering posts and in such an agressive manner even threatening to try & shop individuals on a seperate issue. It shows an arrogance & lack of respect obviously garnered from his future father in law and total lack of maturity when compared to a well brought up 20 year old. I hope this missplaced loyalty is worth it in the long run. To be perfectly honest the style of writing from the intro is different from what we are seeing now. I wouldn't be surprised if you did indeed sign up back then but it's someone else writing these posts now.
He claims that everyone to quote "5 people involved" have had their goods returned to them. Then how come so many here are still out of pocked financially and STILL have parts unaccounted for.
Liam / John whoever the f*que you are your total lack of respect for people that have been screwed to the wall by this business is unbelieveable. You put yourself in the firing line by advertising these parts at a very sensitive time and with a callous disregard for people who trusted Grubb. Do you really think that anyone on here would afford you the same trust? Grow up little boy.
Taff, your never going to see that rear end. The first excuse is always one of many and very reminessant of those ebay scams where they are away on business and the goods are not actually there but somewhere else.

Didn't think i'd get a reply but thats ok because all the info on this thread will now go to the official receiver as well as Bristol Fraud Squad, my front end and buicks that were handed over to john for a chassis build along with a sizeable deposit match exactly what you have on offer however because of past dealings with another pro builder i have marked all my parts..... this info is also with the above as passed on by my solicitor this afternoon.
Going bankrupt, whilst distasteful is perfectly legal but the selling of other peoples' hard earned property is FRAUD.

John has had to use my login to do this as his has expired/been blocked or something similar this is the end of my replies to your abuse. for now.
.................................................. .................................................. ..
I have sat with interest and amazement at the kangaroo court proceedings being held on this site, with regards to my bankruptcy. I feel I have no option but to post my statement
Firstly the name Rodline is now and has been since July 08 the trading name of Mr. Robert Porter. Robert is in no way connected with my past business affairs. I would like to wish Robert good luck and good fortune with this venture.
Secondly, it is with much regret and sadness that my business failed and that some people have been caught up in this situation. I read with interest “demands of an explanation” from many people, most of whom I have never had business dealings with.
It would appear all too easy for people to demand a lynching, even though they are not in possession of the facts.
The details of my bankruptcy are in the hands of the official receiver, who will be in contact; in due course, with those affected by the bankruptcy. I am not at liberty to discuss these matters, as this could be seen as giving preferential treatment to any one creditor. These are the government rules, not mine.
I fully understand the anger and frustrations coming from those affected and thus my sincere and heartfelt apologies go out to these individuals. However some, indeed much of the stuff I have read on here is blatantly untrue and un-founded.
I battled long and hard to try to stay afloat, but for varied reasons I could not. Sadly, some people may loose money and delay a dream, which is hard enough for me to accept, but I have lost everything too, including shortly no doubt, my daughters and my home. I was not a limited company, and I do not go off into the sunset with everyone’s money, my dreams have gone too. A 46-year-old single dad that cannot provide even the basic requirements. Sympathy I neither ask for nor want of you, but there are always two sides to a story.
I am now though enraged to see those close to me being attacked on this forum by some idiotic fools. By all means throw your insults and frustrations at me, but to make disgusting remarks about my daughter, and say that those close to me are guilty by association, are beyond it.
I refer in part to my daughter’s boyfriend advertising some of the parts he accumulated for his rod in the classified section of this site. Mindless idiots accusing him of being evasive and selling stolen goods or on behalf of me. Rubbish, total rubbish. Yes maybe he could of answered some of your questions differently, but he’s a young lad that sees someone close to him being attacked and wants to defend them. At least he’s got the balls to stand up to the blatant bullying being dealt on him. What were some of you like at 20!?
He too had a dream of building a rod but now his taste and passion has been extinguished by the very people that keep calling for new young blood to keep rodding alive, but seem intent on pushing these youngsters away with their remarks and “brotherhood” like behaviour.
He worked hard during the time at Rodline, busting his ass doing what ever he was given to do, unlike some that just wanted the glory of saying that they worked in a rod shop. I only wish I could buy his stuff to help him achieve his goal. Stolen his bits are not, nor in anyway anything to do with disgruntled customers.
With regard to my time at Rodline, I met some good friends, but of course not everyone will be happy with the service they received. Many of you now jumping on my case have had good deals from me, including the NSRA. The give away bodies and chassis were exactly that, given to the NSRA, not charged at reduced rates like some other traders. Maybe traders should have the provision on here to name and shame those customers that mess them bout. But that’s for another thread I’m sure.
To sum up, at the very start of my time a Rodline I was slated on this forum because my very first customer wanted a cash deal with me, but I wouldn’t do it. That same person became a friend but now is back on the bandwagon slating me and giving my family a hard time. Stones and glasshouses come to mind as I write this.
I have no intention in entering a debate with anybody, so please don’t expect a discussion on here with me. I simply have, as asked, given an insight into my side of the story.
MODERATORS: I am all for freedom of speech, so please allow these threads to stay active, just please keep the snide remarks to be about me, and not my family. There are many libellous and slanderous remarks being made on this site, and if it continues I will be left with no other option than to take formal action.

Well it's a pity this thread has deteriorated the way it has since this morning.
As has been stated, it is none of my business and I have not been affected by Rodlines' demise but my posts were borne of suspicion and disbelief.
With Johns' statement here for all to see maybe any other postings should be from aggrieved punters, as they(we) must know that John will look back here.
Whether the parts are Liams' own or not, in my opinion they should maybe be viewed as "damaged goods" and left well alone.
Petty?....yes, but when in doubt.......
Liams' attitude should be put down to the arrogance of youth and left at that.

At least there seems to be one positive thing to take from all this, and that's the way that everybody seems to have united, for once, and rallied round those who have been unfortunate enough to have been ripped off by these lowlife's.
The details of my I fully understand the anger and frustrations coming from those affected and thus my sincere and heartfelt apologies go out to these individuals.
Hi John, There is 2 sides to the story and here's mine...
You took money off me for a car that never existed.
You took money for parts you never ordered.
You showed me a car that belonged to another customer.
You lied about this for a year and even asked me for more money.
You took T shirts off me with no intention of paying.
Even after the county court said you should pay me 14K you still didn't return my money.
I could write a book with the excuses you used, did you know John Xrays the welds on his chassis! and that why it's not in the shop!
This wasn't a blip in business or the credit crunch this started in sept 2007 you made the decision that you would take my money and keep it!
I gave you every chance to sort this out, it appeared you just couldn't be bothered.
Don't think of this as bankrupty more like the goverment taking things off you that you shouldn't have in the first place.
You wont get my sympathy.
Taff, your never going to see that rear end. The first excuse is always one of many and very reminessant of those ebay scams where they are away on business and the goods are not actually there but somewhere else.
Hi Adam, i know were your coming from. My idea (seeing as how i was local today) was to get in and put everyone's mind at rest that this kit (and therefore Liam) was legit, but as it happened i didn't get a call and wasn't able to do so.
for the record, seeing as how i've had a couple of concerned phone calls today (LOL!), I had/have no intention of buying any gear that has been knocked off from another hotrodder. it's too small a community to be doing stuff like that.
Taff, spoke to Andy tonight. I guess thats gonna be a packed out minibus.

Good point. I've had no dealings with these people and don't know them.
But I do think it's a good thing that everyone has been allowed to see these posts and make their own decision.

hi,
My names Liam O'Connell , Im 20 and work for a well known hot rod company.
At the Moment im currently restoring and modifying a '84 Ford F150.
I have a ford 460 BB ready and waiting to go in and a Ford 9" Rear Axle.
i will get some pictures up soon but as it stands the bed is off and the cab will be shortly. i plan to clean up the chassis and get it repainted and then put it all back together with a 3" bodylift and finaly sort out some rust holes.
at the moment im thinking of a metallic or flat black paint with polished alloys and chromed bumpers.
Cheers
i agree. i was actually thinking today lifting a truck and putting a bigger heavier engine in would probably not be wise especially when im used to the handling of European track/rally cars.
i agree its not a true street/hot rod but its a starting point for me and something with a bit of muscle.
also i cant afford to build what i really want and everyone needs a decent truck so i guess its watch this space.

Read this start to finish.
I'm still intrigued by the title of the for sale thread to be honest:
HUGE Shop Clearout
Shop? what shop, oh hang on, you say after they're your parts!
Liam, your arrogance and defensive stance and inability to answer clear questions posed early on before things turned into the mud slinging contest baffles me. Since then you have continued to dig yourself into the seventh level of hades...
No pictures posted of the goods themselves, and the biggy for me no real explanation as to why you:
"cant afford to build what i really want" (september 2008)
yet seem to have the parts to build my dream ride sitting around the place, all collected within a few months? You have been busy buying and working haven't you!
4 engines, 3 rear axles, a body, 2 front axles and a chassis. Man, wish I had room for all that, and the money!
I'm 23, not exactly a stranger to the world, not exactly "young" anymore, but I'm clever enough to smell a totally dodgy **** without too much trouble. Of course that is not to imply I think you are a dodgy ****. ;)
Nice watch btw, nixon rocker? I got one just like it, hope it doesnt get me into a case of mistaken identity at any shows this year.
Thankyou, goodnight

O.m.g!!!!!!!!!!!
I would like to add my observations to this thread as many others have already, some of whom i know personally.
It comes as no surprise to me that many peoples reactions are a bit suspicious to say the least, we are quite a small group compared to most types of car enthusiasts and lots of us have known each other for many years, so if there may be something underhand going on within the rodding community it may well involve one of us obtaining something belonging to one of our mates, and in many ways as some of us are almost family and have been for a lot more years then some have walked this earth, it would be very distasteful as i am sure many would agree.
As for being labelled as balding old hypecrits well so be it, but i can say that i have raised my son and daughter to work hard be honest and be a bit more respectful, plus as for new blood she want's a 32 coupe or roadster when she graduates from university, and i am sure she would be a great asset to rodding as many young people would.
In closing one thing about most people who post on this site we are members of the NSRA so are traceable through our membership records, are guest's traceable the same way, if not then it is not surprising to me that people may regard certain postings or parts to sell as a bit dubious. Please don't think i am slating all guests on the forum, but it is a case of buyer or seller beware.
If you have taken the time to read this then i thank you for your time.
Could this be a contender to take the title of most read/posted ad from Flat Ernies pick up? For different reasons obviously.

O.M.G
Although I am lucky not to have anything owed to me and had no dealings with the shop or Liam, I did almost buy a gearbox from Liam. (am I glad I didn't now, whether parts are his own or not)
Just had a look through his posting history and there is indeed a shed load of parts that have been listed for sale, not just the ones in this post!!!
has anyone actually bought and recieved the goods past or present? (are there actually any parts?)
seems to be so bad timing to list all these parts on this site so soon after events of the shop with him connected to it.
Almost looks like a guy (not Liam) who made his life rods is trying to stay in contact with the rodding scene??
Brian

I know where that is. I'd guess that if the lockup in the pic is still owned by the same family it would be unconnected.

There are 2 other Hot Rod shops in Bristol apart from the one that has gone mammaries skyward.
Jerry Denning = Sound bloke, builds a bleedin good car and is very well respected.
Zane Llewellyn = As above with more of a slant to race cars.
Either are personally highly recommended as I have had work done by both of these chaps. Double honest and have been in business for many many years.
DO NOT for a moment confuse either with the mess left by grubb.

I have just read this thead start to finish, and although I have never met Lameslot or Mr Grubb, I just wanna add my twopennorth.
From a 1980s truck, in the space of 4 months, you amassed quite a collection of parts to build about 2 and a half rods. Then your ideals changed, to a canary coloured french thing.
Some change of plan!
You seem unable to answer a straight question with a straight answer. Have you ever considered being an MP by any chance. I do feel that you would fit in well there. Being consevative with the truth is a way of life to them.
You used to work/ help out/ make the tea at a rod shop in Bristol, which you still haven't named. As been proved there are 3, and it wasn't 2 of them. Go figure.
You seem to have a very arrogant attitude to rodders, the exuberance of yoof perhaps.
You seem to be implying that all these parts (as yet unproved) are yours. Some are new, but you have no proven reciepts, cos you paid cash??? WTF????? If I pay cash for anything that may break, or be faulty, I want a receipt to take it back.
And finally, cos I am an old rodder wno needs his bed ( but no bald patch yet) you harp on about us wanting new blood in rodding. If the new blood is as arrogant as yourself, I would give up rodding. I wouldn't want to be in the same brotherhood as you.
So are we going to get answers to the questions that have been directly answered, or not?
