I need to prep a Camaro subframe this weekend for paint and have been looking at various cups etc.

Before I commit myself to spending cash any recommendations?

Want to use it on my lekky drill. Also where to buy would be usefull.

grinder brushes are great, the drill ones are rubbish by comparison.

i use twist-wire cups on a grinder, never used them on a drill. theyre OK but tend to start polishing the metal rather than remove rust. i quite like using a flap wheel on the grinder as it tends to remove more rust etc.

Paul, got a real nasty looking twist knot wire brush wheel on a 4" grinder, if you want to borrow it ? Take off anything & everything (mind ya pinkies) & some 'kin big gloves that go with it !
Might also have some smaller ones for a drill.

I used what looked like an open pore sponge type thingy in my drill- fantastic for chassis/rust cleaning.

Can't for the life of me find it's name on the web- which doesn't help....sorry.

Someone else may know what I am trying to explain.

I've always found that the ones you put in a drill work the best, as after a couple of minutes work all the wires end up twisted to one side, stick the drill in reverse for a couple of minutes and so on, mind you I do have a BFO drill:p the one on the grinder just seems to polish the crud after the first few goes:(
I get mine from work (and have to pay full wack!)

I use a 3M one that fits in my Roloc adaptor on a die grinder, purple plastic also known as Rhino Pubes! takes off paint and rust but won't damage the steel.

I used the plastic sponge thing, known in the shop I went to as welding fleeces, to strip all the paint from the panels on my 57. Didnt mark the metal, but took off the filler ect. Good until you hit a sharp edge, then they just wear out in minutes.
Also use similar 2" discs at work (& for the 57 places I couldnt get to).
Then after all that, I had it acid dipped !

I would like to get it blasted but it is too big to fit in a cabinet and the cost for getting a mobile guy to come and do it is not realistic.

Now, if I only had my pickup drivable........

Fantastic bits of kit. I'd recommend them all day long. A lot cleaner results that twist brushes or flap wheels.

Hellfire! That is more than reasonable!

Problem is living in Essex the cheapest price I have been quoted is £125 just to blast it....

Could always move I suppose :D

3M pad things it is then.
