kendall 20 w 50 oil

HI can anyone tell mw where i can obtain Kendall 20 w 50 oil for a 1971 Chrysler 318 engine, as this stuff is rather hard to get hold of .. failing that can anyone tell me of its equivalent.

I had loads of trouble finding Kendall straight 50 weight oil for my Harley - gave up in the end and used an equivalent. If you just want 20W50 oil, then I always used to use Castrol GTX 20W50 'For Older Engines', although when I had trouble finding that locally I started using Duckhams Classic 20w50. Everyone has different opinions on oils, but I doubt your engine really cares what brand! You will have to decide if you want a detergent oil, or any other specific additives (like zinc).

I bought Kendal from Eady's Auto's in Burton Latimer, Kettering a couple of years ago but not sure if he is still trading.

Rich at Stateside Auto's on the A5 at Atherstone near Hinckley sells Kendal, but might be in Quarts not gallon containers

It's not the quality it used to be. Go with a good British 20/50 and you will be fine.

Having lost a cam to "good British 20/50" I will not be rushing to repeat the experience. Joe Gibbs XP4 from now on. Peter Knight Racing stock it. Full of zinc. The oil, not Peter Knight.

Whoops. Apparently Kendal went downhill before the zddp scare Paul.
I use Penrite(Australian) but am tempted to use the XP4 on a new build.

I use Valvoline racing oil, available from Real Steel.
Recommended to me by some friends that work on race cars, & they use it in their own road cars.

Andy Robinson is a Kendal agent although i find Valvoline perfectly ok.
