If it was done back in the 30's and that back end is made out of a big one piece roof panel then it'd have to be a Chrysler - possibly, maybe????

Like Ian said 35 Ford (getting very warm now), but it is not a Ford, as Fords had transver leafs.

I thought at the beginning that it was likely to be an East European car, don't know why I didn't follow that route to start with. I'm running out of likely candidates now though.

Its obviously a big car, unless the driver is a child, Around 1940, Grill surround looks like a delicate 34 Ford, grill insert looks like Auburn, Pierce Arrow, Mercedes. The bonnet sides look mightily like Buick. Front axle looks Ford, Hydraulic brakes though.
????? No idea.
