Hi,
Ive been nailing together this 100e for the past 6 months. Its running a rover V8, BW36 auto box, 105e back axle.
Front end is mostly 2.8 capri struts converted to coilover escort mk1 rack on modded escort crossmember. Rad is from a P5 roverand fits perfect :)
Wheels are from a mkII capri i told??
Also have a narrowed jag axle that i may or may not fit but haven't decided yet??
Was planning to have the 100e up a running for wheels day but have since found out im probably gonna need to SVA it :(
So lots of problems with switchgear, door handles, windscreens etc.
If anyone on here has any advice on the dreaded SVA it would be greatfully received. As far as i can see i wont qualify to keep the original reg as im gonna fall short of the 8 points req.
Anyway some pics below to show where im at.

Shadow, look on the main discussion page at the stickies and read the DVLA link re the amount of points neccesary to retain original identity. Just because you haven't been caught doesn't mean it's legal ;)
Penalty for misuse of a log book :-
Magistrates Court =fine up to £5000 penalty
Crown Court = unlimited fine and up to 24 months imprisonment.
SVA ( soon to be replaced by BIVA in April 2009) can be passed if you build the car to pass. Coming back to it afterwards can present a lot more problems.
Edit: E marked lights NOT a neccesity ;)

Thanks for the input guys,
Having now read the links suggested by Kapri i believe the only way to get the car on the road legally is to go through the dreaded SVA, this is a while off yet as im still in the mid stages of the build. just want to build it once properly so the SVA or BIVA is passable. Would ratther spend another six months building it right then fail the test and have to pull it all to bits.
Im aware i can go the other route and just change the engine details but I have been reading that if the DVLA gets their way the MOT guys will be reporting any mods to the DVLA at MOT time + with insurance, MOT and road tax now all being on Databases its gona be easier for the authorities to find cars that are running without an SVA. Its my understanding that you cannot legally insure a car unless all mods are declared anyway, if all these databases can talk to one another, its a no brainer that the DVLA can and probably will crosscheck against insurance.
Unfortunatley it seems to me the days of doing what we want are numbered.
My main concerns are keeping the old feel of the car:
1. Door hadles will have to go, forward facing not compliant??
2. Windscreen will have to be relaced with laminated no problem fitting one but where the hell do i get one??
3. rear lights possibly too small?
4. Switchgear on the dash will have too be replaced presently all toggle switches which i like :(
5.original Seats okay or will they have to go?
Not to bothered about the other stuff gonna re-wire and replumb fuel lines etc anyway.
Suspension and brakes already built right and more than up to the job.
Cheers
Steve

Steve, SVA is being replaced this year by IBVA, but by & large, both are similar (apart from the huge hike in test fee).
If you intend to submit the car for IBVA, before you go any further get a copy of the draft IBVA manual & read it. Certain "styles" of car are easier to build to pass than others. A street rod will be easier to build than a traditional hotrod.
After reading the manual you might decide to go with a different build style. A lot easier to do this at the start of a project than at the end!
Also, subscribe to the newsletter on the ACE website to keep up to date on whats happening.

Steve, forward facing door handles, it's the "gap" they don't like.....a spacer made up to fit?
and toggle switches that you like....look how they got around that with the new mini ;)
you don't have to build a car you don't want just build in away that get's a pass.
