daft question but why are some 2cv headlights plastic and some metal?

As you might expect, earlier ones are metal and later ones plastic. They did do horrible rectangular ones at one point. It's not a trim level thing (exxcept for the chrome ones).

I have a nice set of chrome round ones if you're interested.
