Martyn Hallam from Plymouth, age 26.
I have always been a fan of yanks, thanks to my Dad who picked me up from the hospital in his 1957 Lincoln when I was born. He never sold the Lincoln but it did end up spending a lot of time off the road. So my first project was getting that back on the road about 3 or four years ago. And he must have appreciated my efforts because he gave me the V5 for my 25th.
Some people might know my second project already, as there is a build thread on here, by Mike Couch, who has been posting on my behalf.
It's the 33 Willys Gasser. Mike and I have been working on that for the last 18 months and it's very nearly ready for the road. And more importantly the strip!
It was my Dad again who got me into drag racing, taking me to Pod when I was young but it's Mike who I have to thank for giving me a chance to have a go it. There's no way I would have attempted the project without him.
I'm looking forward to running in the Gasser Circus this year. Who seem a very welcoming bunch. It's seeing that lot, at the Nostalgias and Hot Rod Drags, that made me want to put it up in the air in the first place. It'll also be a good opportunity to shut down Mike Noble in Honky Tonkin. Hi Mike.
By the way, full credit to Mike (Noble) for coming up with the name for the Willys... Whiplash!

Taken at the Hot Rod Drags in 2009. I had only owned the car for a few months. This was when I really got the bug.

Congratulations on the 11.5, Mike. Would be really interesting to know what Honky Tonkin would run with a decent driver, wouldn't it? :thinks::):):)
