Round 1 of the Gasser Circus Showdown, has been and gone and what a weekend it turned out to be, we had burnouts, break outs, blowouts and breakages. Even with these everyone repaired and fixed their cars between rounds and came out just a strong for the next round of competition.
9 Gassers showed up to run on Saturday and 10 on Sunday, the small crowd in the stands were treated to some really close racing and an even closer final. This was contested by Brian Gibson driving 'Identitiy Crisis' and Ray Turner driving 'Green Onions'. As the two Gassers crossed the finish line there was just 4 yes 4 tenths of a second between them, with Brian winning with a 12.04.
This was a fantastic finish to a great weekend for the Gasser Circus, which was so well supported by the NSRA, with their hands on approach especially in the fire up road!
So a big THANK YOU goes out to the NSRA and to all the guys and girls that turned up to race, we literally couldn't have done it without you.

1st Brian Gibson - Identity Crisis
2nd Ray Turner - Green Onions
3rd Ken Brookes - Roarin Rat
4th Ken Britton - Pozzessed

Full report to follow.

Got a Gasser? Then don't miss out, the next round of the Gasser Circus Showdown will be at the Nostalgia Nationals on the 25th - 26th June.

Anne and i had an absolute blast at Garys Picnic on Saturday and Sunday and was really good to be involved with the Gasser Circus......albeit just lending a hand to push the cars down to the line. Was great to meet some guys who i didnt know before, Ray, Brian, Martyn and Ken (didnt catch one or two other names).........a fair bit of verbal sparring was going on between the guys which was all taken in good spirit.

The two closest races were between the same two cars......Green Onions and Identity Crisis and the Whiplash Willys was the aboslute dogs bollox imo.

Quote of the weekend came from Mike Noble............"i dont even like drag racing and ive never really like 57 chevys"........get on Janner;)

After the final all the cars went for a photoshoot and to see them lined up was a damn cool site for the eyes indeed (pics Nick PICS).

The Gasser lads put on a damn fine show for the crowd and i know it will provide entertainment for all as the year progresses.

If i can find a way to lop of the front end of the pickup and get a straight tube under the front i'd love to join in...............im gonna call it "The Sandbagger"

Roll on round 2 and NICKS PICTURES

All verbal sparring aside I'd like to thank everyone involved it has taken a lot of effort by those involved to get the Circus back up and running.
It was a top weekend and really good to meet the people behind the cars and the NSRA members who were there giving us a helping hand (and T shirts!)

Great Success all round methinks I only wish I could run in the Circus and watch it from the stands it must look bitchin.

See you all at round 2
