No not really, if your cutting out welds to a radius they are perfect

I use 1mm stainless steel discs they cut well having built my chassis from 4x2 box section and made rear four bar plus front upper and lower wish bones plus lots of sheet metal and other bits i don't think i've spent loads on discs,
Try not to grind your welds unless you really have to.

The Klingspor discs by far last the longest, If your welds have penetrated there is nothing wrong with grinding them.

I haven't ground any right out just squared them off I'm using an old stick welder
it welds well but looks hideous
I'm pretty new to welding so every time I change material do a test piece on the same stock and cut it in half to check its melted together
cheers for the replys

i found that on mild steel and rust the flexovit or dronco cutting discs are better i have just bought some 3m ones and am very impressed by those! as i said personal opinion

I use rebranded dronco (spaldings) very good and not overly expensive. Dont sell the 75mm size though and have bought some from http://www.rightlines.ltd.uk/Thin-Metal-Stainless-Steel-Inox-Cutting-Slitting-Discs.aspx (http://www.rightlines.ltd.uk/Thin-Metal-Stainless-Steel-Inox-Cutting-Slitting-Discs.aspx)
they lasted ok
