at round 1, lou lost compression on the 4 corner cylinders so we knew it was something serious.
stripped the motor and found the 4 corners had leaned out knackering the pistons.
we also noticed the rockers were making contact with the valve spring top hats.
the motor is now completely stripped to a bare block.
ive ordered a set of forged pistons, rings and roller tip rockers.
the block will need maching to suit the new pistons when they arrive.
the car will then be dyno'd at a local tuning shop owned by a good friend graham at rawspeed tuning.
.
if that wasn't enough..............
emptied the oil in my car and noticed quite a few bits of metal in the oil, cut open the filter and it was full of metal !!
pulled the sump to inspect and found bearing damage.
the motor is now completely stripped to a bare block.
the crank will need a polish or grind.
all bearings are shot.
while its apart i'm going to hopefully up the cam spec as its quite mild at the mo. just aswell while its apart eh ?
the car will then be re-dyno'd at john sleaths.
so we have two complete rebuilds to do before round 2....... its achieveable but it totally depends on parts and machining.
round 2 will see either neither car ? one car ? or both ?
god knows at the moment but we'll give it a bl00dy good shot.
as usual massive thanks to mike couch.

Hi mike sorry to hear about your engine as well, any indication what caused the problem, bearing damage sounds oil related?

was a second hand engine, so bit of an unknown, should of probably stripped it when i got it but its the last thing i would do when ive just spent out on a new (to me) motor !!
i'll be back stronger and faster !!

And a fecking good bank manager by the look of it! Hard luck on what's happened and well done on getting stuck in, I'm sure with that sort of determination you'll both be there.
To be honest, that's why I decided against the gasser game, I couldn't possibly have kept up with it all, I wouldn't have slept at night with those figures being bantered about, I certainly admire the people that do, again, well done!

Regards,
Micky T.

P.S. If I can help out at all when you go to Sleathy's just call, I live 5mins away from him.

in fairness mick, its only my lack of experience and knowledge that causes these problems, i'm on a steep learning curve for sure and i seem to be learning the hard way.
i really try to do things properly but i get bitten everytime...
