wanting to start a build soon, i need a frame complete with mounts, brackets etc for the set up i have chosen, importing is to expensive, is there any companies in the uk that can do this for me, im a welder/fabricater by trade so can do a lot of work myself but for saftey would rather have a basic frame done by an expert, any advise

What car? What style of chassis?

There are a few rod shops around that can/will build a Model A / '32 Ford / Pop / etc., chassis, or if you want something more race-style, there's Jon Webster, Hauser racecars, Andy Robinson, and others.

Perhaps a little more information will get more specific answers?

Have you enquired as yo how much a basic frame would be if shipped from the states? you may be suprised at how reasonable it can be.

you'd get a better choice importing from the states........... i'd recommend chatting to Russ above on the importing of one. :)

As has been said you need to state what car you have in mind, I build chassis's to order but on certain cars it can be cheaper to import one, I can import too.

was thinking early ford truck, as for engine a ford 289 would surfice, but a 351 cleavland would be better, this project is still on the drawing board. i am also thinking of a austin big 7 with a jag straght 6 as i have easy accsess to jag parts, cant decide as to which way to go, thinking the austin route may be cheaper and easyer for me but it aint a yank

In my opinion you would be better off with a stock truck frame and add to it, ready made truck frames are not as cheap as say a Model A or a 32.

would this be whats known as a builders frame, the welding and fabrication would not be a problem, was gonna make a jig and build my own frame, but i just dont have the time/space for this, i'll start looking further in to the set up, one thats been tried and tested i think

It would be known as a stock frame, never heard of a builders frame ever ? If you had the main rails and front and rear crossmembers it would be known as a perimeter frame

been checking out a company called progressive automotive based in the states to get an idea of cost and whats available, but a perimeter made here would be good, how much would that be for example a '34 ford truck

If it`s the smaller `34 1/2 ton pickup (as below) you have in mind Jim, the basic frame is the same as the `34 passenger cars...

If its a 34 truck you want to do Jim I have a 34 frame in stock, made with american stamping rails and has crossmembers but needs engine mounts and suspension mounts £1200
