I,m not sure that I agree with the morality of selling a website and then starting another and taking all the posters away to it, but I,ll have a look.

Nobody took anybody anywhere Ross. People are going there of their own accord simply because RnS has been unreliable in operation and the owners do nothing, or say nothing, about it.

I thought of it as an extra forum, having said that i cant get R&S to work properly at the moment, it starts up then it wont load, last night either,a few have been having trouble for a week or so.

Yet another forum? I guess it'll be something for all the Facebookers to post links from . . . think I'll stay in the garage.

The VW guys have been through the same thing. Unfortunatley all it does is divide people yet more. It's such a shame our Canadian friends can't fullfill thier side of the agreement.

That's just the software it runs on. The brand and database are what is sold.

I've signed up and I'm in, but you can't help thinking the same, I'd like to hear Si's reasons for doing it? There's too many forums out there with exactly the same things on 'em, same topics, same lists of pics, same everything, but there's one I keep coming back to... I'm on it now!

From a personal viewpoint I have to agree on the "Life" comment Mo!. I can always find something to do in the workshop that`s more important than being on another forum, especialy as this one fulfils all my forum needs anyway...

The look of it is much cleaner than RnS - don't know if adverts will have to come to keep it going? Definite feeling of deja vu, but I guess that's inevitable. Will everyone on RnS abandon ship and move over there? Or will there be identical threads on three forums now, instead of two? ;)

Pretty sure Si said their will b no adverts Andy.

Don't see why not, this place (the best place) needs more traffic, and not just being left to the 'usual suspects' and more folks not being afraid to say what they think,

SO how does another forum increase the chat on here then? I'd have thought it would dilute what is out there down to even less?

Very possible i think, the disgruntled who left a few years ago dropped response the most, but i think since then Facebook has and will have the longer lasting impact on forums, there is only so much available time for each individual.
I have joined the new forum, along with being on here and R&S ,i am also on BSC (a Cortina site) ,the 100E site and the MTOC site(another Cortina site),so i am spreading a little thin, with the last two sites getting next to no postings from me now.

Ultimately, people will settle into social circles where they feel comfortable, be it down the pub with certain mates, hobbies, work environment etc, even whether they socialise with certain neighbours (and not others), and the same goes for forums/facebook etc!.
I know at least 5 rodders who don't post on any forums as they simply have no interest in that aspect of the hobby or life, they just get on with building their cars and driving them, it`s how they like to be, which is fine with me:). The facility is there but if they don't use it, it`s their choice to make.

I agree Bry,most near me dont go on the forums ,and of those that do, only roughly half of them actually post ,this not recent it has always been like that since forums started.

But they aren't adverse to using the sales section though

What's the idea with it? As mentioned before, it's virtually a mirror image of R/S, even down to the same topic titles, same pics and wording by the same people? I've signed up but can't see myself being a regular, I enjoy forums but only allow so much time to 'em, they can take over if you let them. Out of all of them, I still reckon this one is the best, it's like Brizey says, you settle with the one you feel most comfortable with and the right people on it. It's all getting a bit to much repetitive for me.

You cant stop people reading for sale section Steve, unless it locked out to forum members too ,or if you meant that some of them post and just use the for sale section then ,no,the rodders near me dont, they may read it as they are not forum members, but if there is no phone number then they cant respond to the item for sale.

Ian maybe I should of been a bit blunter  What I meant was that people will take from the forum in the way of tech help, ideas, tips & tricks, bargains etc etc but don't bother to give any input back.

Yea thats true Steve, and for some that has always been the case, around me there are are quite a few that dont go on the internet & FB at all,and that percentage has been added to by those who now spend more time on Facebook than on forums, forums are now competing for the remaining forum posters .
