Just got back from Shakey , can't believe how many people there was there . Drove up from London on Friday morning in the rain and when we got there it was dry and there was track action all afternoon . The rain started at 5 o'clock and did not stop all evening , but people were rolling in ,in their cars all night , there was hardly a camping spot left.
After a damp start ,we had some good running and a great cackle fest . Today it was drizzling and it looked like it was a wash out but the track did dry and there was track action .
We would like to thank Alan Martin and crew , Shakey's crew and all you guys & girls that turned up. I hope you all had a good time and thanks for supporting the 25th Hot Rod Drags

Mick, many thanks to you and all the crew, I had a great weekend, but you must have been at a different event to me? I got there Friday at 1.30pm and there was no racing that I could hear of, the odd car possibly? And then the heavens opened which finished it anyway, Saturday morning saw a good few there but no racing till 1pm ish cos of drying the track, it was then stop start all afternoon with one thing or another till shutting the lanes at 5.30pm to be closed at 6pm, the timing lights weren't working when they were racing and you couldn't hear the announcer trying to tell you the times. Cackle fest was really good, but the fireworks, I've let more off in my back garden. Sunday morning, well everyone was heading home by 10.30am easily, I left at 12.30pm after watching the same 5-6 cars drying the track on street tyres and most had gone or were heading home by then anyway, slight drizzle of rain at 12 o'clock and the stands emptied. Outlaw Anglia's had previously announced they wasn't racing, half the Gasser Circus had gone along with most of the street cars, so that was my cue to do the same. It was raining and blowing a gale when I left and most of the way home, so I assume there wasn't any racing then anyway? I enjoyed myself along with the crew that I went with, and it was most unfortunate with the weather, but personally my opinion was this years HRD's was the worst one for a good few years, that's only my view of the weekend for what it's worth, but there were many camped around me that said the same... Won't stop me going again though!
Regards,
Micky T.
P.S. I hope the driver of the black Ford Pop who had that horrible accident is ok, the announcer never let anyone know what the outcome of it was? I saw the car on a trailer early Sunday morning heading home but still don't know how he is. Any chance of letting us know?... Thanks.

A lot better than two years ago when not one car went down the track all weekend apart from the cackle fest , can't grumble it's been a good summer and much much better than last year

Track was open and dry all afternoon today, pretty much all gassers ran, they got the full competiton in. Shame on everyone for leaving, but did give a chance fpr the hardcore racers to go round and round. Was also plenty racing friday afternoon but street cars only. A couple cars rolled tho one on saturday and one today due to drivers not backin out of a run when the car is out of control, worse one being today with the 300e van, extremely stupid. Was a good weekend, weather never bothers me, maybe not the best one ever but no where near the worse. Was awesome to see the stands full on saturday as well. now back out the garage to finish the gasser for next year!

I was at last years event also and seem to recall it being the better, I'm not gonna argue about it, as I said it was only my opinion for what it was worth, it's just interesting how one mans view is totally different to the next, we'll just have to agree to disagree? It has been a good summer and I've enjoyed all the events I've attended, just thought it was ok to give my bit of personal feedback that's all, I'll know not to in the future and keep my mouth shut.

P.S. And the driver of the Ford Pop is...???

Jed Guy
Just to clear things up, and what really ****es me off is people that make sweeping accusations of bad driving on here, do you actually think drivers intend to crash??
I have crewed for Ray and now Jed for more years than I care to remember, yesterday Jed lost control and hit the wall at over 100 mph rolled several times ripping off the front suspension on one side, coming to rest on its roof.
Jeds opinion is something failed in the rear suspension, but with so much damage to the car its impossible to identify which specific part it was.
We are sorry to have stopped proceedings on what is a fantastic event, however it was not intentional.
Thankfully Jed is a ok and will live to fight another day. unfortunately the car is a write off.
I must say the track crew were very good and showed what a professional team they are, I can not praise them enough.
Mark.

For me,its more about the people than the racing.
I had a pretty crap start to the weekend,2 problems with the coupe which ended with me having it recovered to home when within 35 miles of shakey, which meant in all it took me 13 hours to get there but no way was i going to miss out on a weekend with my friends.Caught up with all of them over the course of Friday night to Sunday morning, enjoyed the racing on the Saturday(almost as much as we did Marks Welsh Cakes!Worked out they are even more delicious when toasted and buttered!!I had to leave early afternoon on Sunday due to work commitments but we were already making plans for next year on the drive home.
Best event in the world for me.Well done!

Got there Friday afternoon, managed to set up the stall before the heavens opened up, rained most of the evening, but had a blast the band on Friday were superb, the clubhouse had a great buzz, and we got wet.
Saturday was great yes a lot of down time, but a hell of a lot of people cleary came Saturday as opposed to Sunday cos of the weather threat for Sunday.
We left after the cackle fest but all in all not a bad time at all, you cant help the weather over here.
Well done to all the organisation crew.

THE GASSER CIRCUS STAYED AND DID ALL THEIR ROUNDS.
goldrush was broken, lous cannon was broken.
the track was NOT prepped so myself and roarin rat decided not to risk our cars after seeing the 100 E crash.

Thanks to Mick for the initial post. DESPITE the weather forecasts we can only thank every single one of you that made the trip, especially those that came from Europe to help us celebrate the 25th Annual Hot Rod Drags.
Our thanks must go to the track and safety crew who performed well above what would be expected of them. The NSRA committee for all they do to support the event and every single person that turned up
It would not be worth doing it without you..
Thanks everyone, Mark, Martyn, Steve and yours truly. You are why we do it.

I sincerely hope you never have an incident when running your gasser at the strip as I wouldn't wish an accident on anybody, but, if by some unfortunate chance you do you're going to look a right tit after a sweeping accusation like this. I suggest next time you see Duncan with the 300E at a race meeting you go an tell him how stupid he is I'm sure he would appreciate your input.

 Caught on camera,i seem to have a lot to say  i must be like a one man Gassing Circus :D
Sunday according to the forecasts was supposed to be a washout,i thought i would be up early to put the tent away dry, but alas due to not getting into bed until 4am (and 3amFri/sat morn) i had a bit of a lie in,but the rain didnt come as planed so :thumbsup2:.
I think a lot though it would be wet Sunday so went home,so it just goes to show stay up till ridiculous hours in the mornin and you wont loose out ,some crazy logic there but you expected that eh :).
Sunday afternoon we enjoyed watching Bod in his 1300 crossflow powered black Pop repeatedly trying to get into the 18's,and finally managing it,well done Bod :thumbsup2:
Needles to say we enjoyed everything else too, well done everyone involved in organizing it :thumbs_up_smiley:
Only made the Saturday but what a great day. Good to see the stands packed. Well done to the Shakey Crew & the NSRA guys. Sorry but I have to ask the question... any further run of Tee shirts? I'm four short of what I need!
A special thanks to Rich Black - for two weekends running he's ensured our enjoyment of an event - you can clean that van out now mate.

I came over from The Netherlands with me missus, arriving Friday afternoon and leaving Sunday morning early. So actually one day to spend at the tracks and some 26 hours of hard travelling. But I already look forward to next year. It's the laid back atmosphere, the racing, the cars, the pits, and most of meeting gearheads. The band on Friday was a nice suprise, at first look I thought it was Justin Bieber on guitars, but they really rocked the joint! Thanks for organising this great event!
