I see after the US Nsra got a slagging for going to a 30 year rolling year cut off for eligible show entry , Goodguys next year have no year cut off at at least two of their events . It seems the dwindling older hot Rodders aren't enough for these two US company's and they are going to let in new Mustangs , Cameros etc .
Although it may get in the younger generation ,I'm sure they must have their own shows to attend and I'm sure it's going to alienate the true Hot Rodders . Just look at the rise of traditional stuff about , are they going in the wrong direction ?

As you say Mick, they`re companies and therefore need to make money hence the rolling (and no year) cut-off. But new cars!!!. I`m buggered if I would pay to get into a show to look at cars I can see everyday on the street or in a new car sales showroom, even if those new cars do bear the name of an older car that`s now considered a classic!.

While allowing new cars at a show will bring in entry revenue from their owners and also from the paying public who may like these newer cars, ultimately it`ll drive away what`s left of those already `dwindling` hot rodders until the shows become a show for late model cars with just a smattering of rods dotted about. Which would be a shame, since it`s the true rods, customs and older classics that have `made` these shows the success`s they are in the first place!...

West Springfield and Indianapolis are now Goodguys all American Get Togehter Events too. Both fairgrounds are very large and there will be enough room for new and old, traditional and high-tech rides. The Pleasanton All American get Togehter Shows are succesful since over 30 years. Many hot rodder have not only nice pre 49 rods , classic or customs, they use often customized new muscle cars, Pick-ups or prowler, ssr´s and so on. Now they get a platform to have fun with all their rides. I like the all american get togehters in P-Town. There are more and more restricted car Shows in the USA like billet proof, hundreds of traditional hot rod Shows and so on. More and more younger guys ( and gals) who own new Mustangs, camaros ect. are interested in classic rides too. To accept the joung guys is maybe a way to Keep the hole Scene going on . . .

As been stated, there both companies, both in it to make money, so why can't they have shows for pre 19** & post 19**........Or have the show ground separated, again for pre 19** & post 19**.
Or even have 2 subsideries to each club, again, one pre 19**, the other post 19**.

As usual, you can please some of the people most of the time, but most of the people some of the time.....

Goodguys started this year with the All American Sunday for all of their events.
Most shows are still pre 1973, only the All American Get Togehter Shows had no cut up date.
Time will tell if the opening for all american rides will be a positiv thing at their shows.
There are so many fashion waves in the hot rod hobby. Today, I see more cut up years and car show restrictions as in the years before in the USA and in Europe. Traditional & Oldstyle is the fashion in hot rodding and other things to. Livestyle events pop´up everywhere. Flat black colors, oldstyle look & tatoos are the way to go. ( Hey , you can even buy a new mercedes conv. in flat black with pinstripes..but this is another thing).
The oldstyle scene grows ( dont get me wrong, I like it, its a bit my thing) a lot, because more people can afford rides´out of this scene as in the hot rod billet area in the years before.
When it comes to numbers of participants, Livestyle shows are growning, but compare to a pre 1982 classic car show or a all american cars show the numbers as still not high, were even we have over 2000 cars at some classic car shows.
Hayride in the UK maybe big, Kustom Kultur Germany had maybe 350 cars, Hangar Rocking in Swiss a couple hundred.
Billet Proof in Anitoch, Ca past weekend was not so big, compare to 3500 cars @ Goodguys Pleasanton Shows or 6000 cars in Goodguys Columbos OH.
The Turkey Rod Run changed too a lot. This year there will be no more cut up year too ! The turkey run changed from a Street Rod / Hot Rod SHow to a Musclle-Car Show.
Muscle Cars will be a big part in hot rodding for the future, I think.
----------------------------------------------------------
I will be in California in Oktober & FL in Nov.
I will talk to some officials and I will ask them about there car show ideas for the future.

Given than Im now in the US ive been to several goodguys shows that have the All American Sunday events. Its exactly as everyone has said.
Even with the bigger hot-rod scene here its not enough to cover the rising cost of events and venues (Given most arent low key ones on campsites!), I dont mind the All American Sunday events with the newer Camaros and Mustangs as they have all been separate anyway.

Still plenty of Rod only shows, but Im OK for all these changes and I live here!

Sorry to disappoint ya all, but it is not just 'oldies' that only want to see real rods and hot rods and rat rods and... I might be relatively new (coming out of the biker scene) to hot rods (a lover of rods for four years now and lover of vintage cars for years), but I am most definitely not old. I have a young daughter, who, with her friend, is a huge fan of hot rods and regularly visits shows... Although I do indeed not see the point of including 'new cars' in rod shows, it does not mean that the 'young people' are alienated, just fans.
