I am seriously thinking of importing a truck from the USA over the winter. I know there is a huge import tax of 20% on trucks and only 5% on cars. I am after information on how to go about looking for a truck apart from looking on ebay, where else can I look. Also tips and information on getting the vehicle from where it is in the USA to a port and from the port to the uk. Is there any way of bringing the price of import tax down.
really just after any good advice from people who have done it before.

thanks for your help

Robb

If it was me I would go through someone who does it all the time, they know the system and how it works, best deals etc and if they are bringing in more than one vehicle would be cheaper. There are some guys on here, sure they will be along soon to answer your questions.

I would be highly surprised if anybody tells you on an open forum  Best left to telephone calls.

We ship from New Jersey twice a month now, if the trucks over 30 years old and unmodified then theres a good chance you can get it in on the 5% VAT, i have just brought two in this week myself.
My business partner lives in NJ and builds hot rods for a living, he offers a vehice check service which is used by customers both here and in Europe to make sure what your looking at
in the pictures is what might arrive here, i have seen some horror stories believe me.
