It's going to be a long way for us next year , the ferry to Denmark will close this September , so we will have to drive . So who fancys a 2800 mile round trip ?

Have you considered maybe taking the ro-ro vessel from Immingham to Brevik, Norway?
There's also the route from either Immingham or Tilbury to Gothenburg, Sweden. We'll have to use that for our UK trip next year so I already contacted DFDS Seaways for a quote and sailing schedule. Their vessels on that route take up to 10 (!) passengers per sailing so you'd better book early. For you this would also mean dividing your group into smaller convoys of 5 or so cars. The UK-SE route cost return approx. £800 for two people and a car.

That's more like it, a proper trip for a change!!! Did almost that mileage doing France & Spain in the T bucket with no top, this should be a doddle in the Coupe.

Going by past experiences, as this will be a long trip, I'm guessing there won't be as many wanting to go as there is say for this year's event (50+ at the last count), so possibly that's one route. I'd prefer the long road up through Denmark, across the bridge into Sweden & all the way up & round. Not been much further North in Sweden than Stockholm, so will be a new experience & a good old shakedown trip for my T!! Yes, sadly, it won't be ready in time for this year's event, but will definitely be for next year!! :thumbs_up_smiley:

As I'm missing out this year I've already been looking at this, would make a fantastic road trip, and before anyone mentions it at 53mph it could take a long time, but just think of all those tractors

Ah, but with your whizzy new overdrive transmission installed, who knows what dizzy heights of speed you'll be able to achieve!!! :thumbs_up_smiley:

I'm in.
Here's an idea: night ferry - Harwich to Hook of Holland. The drive from here to Loten in Norway is 906 miles. This could be done in 2 days. I did 400 miles yesterday in the Stude coming back from Germany; (3 days tops). Yes the ferry is more expensive than to France, but it'll save time & money for those like myself where time off work = no income. Possibly less risk of breakages also.

Agree with Colin mine is the same days off work mean no income prefect will be done so I'm up for it but one stipulation Mick as out going chair please please put a minimum speed limit in the club rules and no tractor spotting unless we see cows on hills

There is a ferry from Kiel in Germany near Hamberg that goes into Oslo in takes 14 hours . Would cut out Denmark and Sweeden , another alternative ?

What's all this finding alternatives to actually driving to the ESRA events and enjoying the trip, I thought that's what this was all about or have I been thinking wrong these past few years?

Still love the driving Mark , but need to justify taking so much time off work And your still talking driving a few miles:yes:. If I was a pensioner like some;) wouldn't mater how long it took , even at 56mph:D

It's alright Mick, he'll have a new overdrive trans next year, so he'll be able to cruise at 60 (not his age, I hasten to add!!)!

I'm starting a campaign to get Dragstalgia to be on a different weekend to this next year, but it would possibly be only the one before or after, so might curtail a really long trip. But at least I know the date for this one now, so we can "encourage" James to think carefully about next year's event! :thumbsup2:
