There is a guy is Birtley that does blasting. He has a lot of classic car/hotrod/american experience. Very reasonable to. PM me if your interested for his number.

I used 'strip and clean' discs in a 4.5in grinder.
They work brilliantly, much better than a flap wheel for removing paint/filler/light rust, just go 'easy' with them and try not to catch any edges, they'll wear out in a flash if you do!
Type 'strip and clean discs' into google, you'll see what they look like. Some places do a discount if you buy a few at a time. From memory, I used about 10-12 to completely strip a Ford Pop bodyshell including doors, bootlid, bonnet and grill.
I can vouch for the strip and clean discs, I'm using them to take my Fordor back to bare metal at the moment. They soon cut through paint and filler but leave the surface of the metal in tact. If used with a light touch they don't even strip out lead.

There is a guy is Birtley that does blasting......
For a correct job, I would agree with the media blasting if you can afford it!. While any kind of rotating flapwheel or disc will clean the paint/rust from the surface of the metal, they will just skip across any pits that are left by rust/corrosion and it`s that deep `hidden` rust that will come back to haunt you in time!. If you choose the blasting method, just be sure the person doing the blasting has experience of car bodywork as heavy handed blasting can ruin an otherwise perfect panel!...
