I have been into Pops since I was a kid, elder bro had one when he was 10 1/2 & I got one when I was 10 for driving round the fields. I was also into scalextric & built a Pop for that but it was a bit big being a 1/24 th scale! It was the only body size you could get then.
43 yrs later I bought a 1/32 scale body on ebay to do another one! Unfortunately in the mean time I crashed a motorbike & lost the use of my left arm & hand making dealing with small fragile things very difficult. So I let my friend Glenn build it
He used a AC Cobra chassis from a car that I had,the wheelbase is exactly the same 90in on both. The chassis only needed a slight trim on the sides, ideally the front wheels should be smaller & narrower track but they aren't!
The headlights are 1/12 Harley indicators with 1/43 Volvo hubcaps, sidepipes are bits of sprue from some kit or other, windows are film negatives. He strengthened the filmsy body inside with a block of balsa wood & bits of styrene tube inside & painted it & the correct number plate to look like mine.
I have now got it to do faster lap times than when it was a Cobra! 264272642826429
