I've been churning this idea over for ages so I decided it was time to commit it to paper; a 49/50 Mercury Pick-up. I know there were some full sized Ford trucks badged as Mercurys in Canada but never a car based one.

I wanted to keep it as "stock" looking as possible using the shape of the coupe rear end in the fenders. I didn't want it to look too customized as that would loose the identity of the base vehicle. Now I realise that a Merc is probably a bit valuable to chop up like this but I distinctly remember someone producing 'glass bodies in the early 90s. If you could track one of these down and mate it with a late model truck chassis it could be a feasible project.

After that I took the concept a couple of steps further to it's (il)logical conclusion as a COE delivery van.

I watch the Mercs for sale on US Ebay and this is on there at the moment. Would look nicer with your rear end on it.

I haven't seen that one before looks ok but like you say the Chevy rear wings don't fit in with the front end.

I've always found the ideas that people dream up for 'Phantom' bodies to be interesting; yours look great Jem...

i like them…especially the pickup…not the one in the photo i hasten to add…too much going on at the front and the rear is too bulky…your drawing flows
