My SBC uses a short water pump which doesn't have the tapped bosses for "standard" alternator brackets. Can someone please point me in the direction of one which mounts from the tapped holes in the front of the cylinder head?

A website/link/ part number would be helpfull so I can actually see what I'm ordering to ensure I'm getting what I need.

I've got a garage full of stuff which "nearly" fits.....

Let me know if you want anything I may be buying a low mount pass side set up from him.

Brilliant. I'll measue up tonight, but it looks like one of the low profile brackets for Vortec heads will do. I'll let you know tomorrow.

Thanks Mark, problem is I'm using a P/S pump on that side otherwise it would have been ideal. I would have been better of using a long water pump as thats what I've got alternator brackets for!

Mark, nice one. I can't see any reason why the bracket can't be flipped and used on pass side if the fuel pump is not in use.

Thanks for all the replies. BUT, last night I measured the clearance between the pump & the radiator & I either need a fan spacer or change the pump to a long nosed one.

I'm going for the pump change as the short one currently on is used (but low mileage) I have enough long-pump alternator brackets to form a Mecanno set.

Question. I seem to remember someone saying that the pump on Vortec engines run backwards. Is that true? If so, is it down to the run of the serpentine belt as mine now uses a conventional vee-belt set-up?

I guess I should have put this in the "Tech" section.......
