Hi guys, looks like I AM going to have to widen the front wings on my pop, the body has now been raised (temporarily) by two inches, but there is still no clearance for steering, so I have decided to stick two inches in the width, and I am sure someone on here had the best place to cut them for ease of 'shape' retaining...???
I am thinking straight up from about 6" in from outer edge, then across 3" towards the outer edge, then straight back, up and over...
Ages since i widened my flip front, i think i just marked the high points and run a string between them as best i could, i do remember cutting the outer bit in half to get it all lined up !

Hmmm, I was hoping that wasn't the case....
I still think there IS a way of doing it without cutting the outer section, if no-one comes up with a way, I will let you all know soon...!!!

Don't worry chaps, I am taking the 'easy' way out, and I am going to narrow the front clip...!!!
:D
Don't really wanna cut up steel wings...!!!!
I used to be indesicive.....but now I'm not sure.......LOL
I'd cut the wings, if you narrow the clip you'll have to narrow the rack, not cheap.

What's a clip ? Hair clip ? Spring clip ? Nose clip ? Or do you mean front suspension unit ?

i'm going to widen my glass wings.
seems the easiest way, plus don't think there'll be enough room for the eight in between once narrowed!!!

At this precise moment, I ain't fussed what I have to do, I just want to get on with it again...
I think that if i DO widen the front wings, it's going to make it look really wiiiiiiiide, and thats not what I want....
As it seems like I/we are going to be making a complete new chassis, why not narrow the front suspension???
Steering rack is the least of my worries at the moment....!!!
Ian Mockett has much experience of narrowing racks. Autopower & Custom...01604 464114
