(Ive photoshopped out the rear indicators cos they look a bit naff)

Anyone know any history on this car? any old photos? any previous owners?
or even the builder? (and dont say Ford Motor Company).

I used to see that (or a very similar one) round Loughborough, Coalville & Ashby. Sounded like it had a 4-pot?

Having said that, the one I used to see had chrome wheels of the same style, the one's on this car look like satin Centre-lines.......

Not really, i have a bike for my adrenalin fix, been a biker for nearly 25 years solid, love em, in fact, if i had to choose between my Norton and the Pop im 'fraid the Norton wins every time.. no contest. But the Pop is, without a doubt, FUN! and while i cant take my kids with me to bike rallies, i can take them to Rod events, which is cool.
With the history your car has im not surprised you want it on the road. It amazes me how so many of the Show cars of the Seventies are now in such a bad state... what happened? did they all get dumped in the Severn Estuary by Mr J Clarkson?
Wish i could find some history on my Pop, it was supposedly Rodded in the Seventies and doesnt appear to have had much work done on it in recent years.

Water ballasted Rods??? Must just be down to the good ol British weather methinks! LOL. I'm sure your pop will nudge a few memories for somebody. It only takes one comment from somebody and the flood gates will open. Good luck! I'll keep em peeled for ya.

Im such a lazy ass... ive just bothered to actually look through some paperwork that came with ONT791...
Supplied new in 1957 by a Ford dealer in Shrewsbury.
MOT'd in 1989 (with a 2000cc engine) in Telford.
MOT'd in 2003 in Loughborough (you were right 'Gettinonabitmore').
Petrol receipt 2005 in Shepshed.
Purchased by me 2008 in Bury St Edmunds.

BUT! what i want to know is who Rodded it & when and
I wish i could find some old photos of it...
Anyone??

There is a link somewhere on this forum that takes you to the DVLA site where for a small fee the will send you copies of all the old log books. That may help you????

Finally got the info back from the DVLA... it took ages and the early history is a bit confusing. The car was originally Black. The DVLA have listed the first owner as D. Saxon but theyve got that wrong. The first owner was a Captain Warr (or Capt. Waugh?) from Shrewsbury who sold it to a C. Hatton in 1975 who then sold it to D. Saxon. It appears that the DVLAs records are not very complete prior to 1980.
I think the change from 1172cc to 1998cc was carried out by D. Saxon who, when declaring a change of address in 1989, also declared the engine size to be 2000. The DVLA ignored his declaration and continued to list the engine size as 1172 until the 5th owner put them straight on it.
So, does anyone know a David Harold Saxon ???

Thanks guys. Axle is MGB. Ive got one poor quality flash photo of the inside.. i must get round to taking a decent one in daylight. The interior is very close to stock, it even still has the Ford Dealers plaque fixed to the dash.
