That`s a neat diorama John! :thumbs_up_smiley:, must be the Pop Eliminations :D. I like the battery and jump leads by the woody too, a nice touch!
I`ve been busy on my building board since Christmas, restoring a Lindberg 1/8TH scale `BIG `T` that I bought some years ago off e.bay (usa). Some parts were already broken off mainly due to the original builders very sparing use of cement, something that helped me when striping it completely apart for restoration.
The previous horrible hand painted Blue paint had to go using Deluxe Materials `Strip Magic` which works like Nitromors but wont harm plastic, once striped it washes off with Methylated Spirit then warm soapy water. Dry and it`s ready for paint!
Half of one side of the frame was missing so that had to be built along with the windshield frame which was also missing, this I made from a length of steel rod bent to shape.
A major problem was much of the chrome had faded on the front axle, rocker covers and headlights and the new windshield frame etc. This was fixed using `Molotow Liquid Chrome` which comes in a felt tip style pen and simply brushes on, the tips come in varying widths and it does look like chrome!
I have many more kits to build but wanted to restore this `T` as a sister rod to my restored Monogram `Big T` that my parents bought me for Christmas 1962...

That looks great Brian. I'm tempted to get one of those pens for an ongoing project. See how time goes for this year before 'garage time' starts back up !

I've got a big T that I built years ago, found it in a box in the garage the other day looking very sorry for itself, pieces fallen or broken off! It will get redone eventually, probably when I'm in a nursing home with nothing else to do!!!:thumbs_up_smiley:

That`s a nice selection of old kits Tony, had a few of them in the past!.
The Red and White Monogram 1930 model A Phaeton in the centre was the first ever hot rod model I built in 1962, the kit was called `Red Chariot` and at the time it was just the Red version with no custom options in the kit!
Finally decided to restore my Monogram 1/8th `32 roadster that I originally built in the `70s, just the frame and a few more pieces to find that I know are `somewhere`!. House moves and storage haven`t been kind to many of my old models and although I have around 50 unmade kits still in their boxes, I`m enjoying restoring the old ones :)...

The big Monogram kits have always been a favourite with me. I get the urge to modify them a bit though...

Those two Monogram Big Deuces were given added Fink appeal many years ago. Those, and a few others, were regulars at the Essex Nationals Model Show. I was a member of the South London Auto Modeller club (SLAM), and we sorted the model displays at the Nationals for a few years.
We used to have monthly meets at the Shirley Poppy pub. It's a Macdonalds now.
I still have my Monogram 1/8th golden T. As yet still unstarted. Had it since 1990.
I have the 1/25th Golden T but never seen the 1/8th kit of it Stephen.
I think there`s been around 6 or so re-releases of the Monogram Big T including the `Big Rod` show and go T, the `Big Drag` competition roadster, the 3 in 1 kit (can be built original style, `60s style and rat look) and the fad style `Custom Street and Go Pickup`; I have the last 2 still unmade.
Wouldn`t mind a 1/8th `Big tub`, always liked the look of it...

The Big Tub got a re-release a while back I think. I've missed it both times around.
Got me a Big T though, built and boxed. I walked into the IPMS Telford show one year and a dealer had a mint one on his shelves. It took all my spending money for the weekend, but it's one of the best kits in my collection. I've never regretted buying it.

Beautiful colours on the covers, all B+W inside though.
The first ever issue had a article on building a model of the Pierson Brothers coupe. All you needed was a Monogram '34 Coupe, a Black Widow T and a Midget Racer! That lot would set you back a few quid these days.

When I build it I've already decided to buy a small fish tank to keep it in, and the idea is to turn it into a diorama of a garage with the car inside. Although I don't have the scanner/printer anymore, I was at one stage going to make 1:8 scale copies of spare parts boxes and a 1/8 scale NSRA calendar on the wall. Perhaps when I've got my actual car finished...... is frightening though, I was only 29 when I bought it.

I'm reworking a 1/24 model i built when i was 22, with another that was bought when i was 38
Your `Golden T` looks identical to my 1/8th `Street and Show T` but with the chrome changed to `brass`, Stephen ... much the same as they did with the Golden `Little T`.
I hope yours still glues OK, though I`ve noticed the plastic on the larger kits appears somehow different and parts can detach from the completed kit if not careful! :o

I raked through my model parts boxes and managed to find most of the parts of the Monogram `Uncertain T` that I built in the late `60s. Seeing as the full size rod recently resurfaced (now owned by Bo Boekmann and to be restored by Dave Shuten), I thought it only appropriate to restore mine!.
I originally left the body White (as it came from the box) but the parts I did paint have now been stripped (using Strip Magic) and all parts still glued together have been separated for cleaning/rebuilding and re-chroming.
My main problem ATM is finding a suitable Tangerine Metallic/Candy paint in a spray can as I don`t own an air brush!...

A decent candy tangerine can be had by starting with a base of Tamiya gold followed by Tamiya clear orange. Both are available in spray cans. Clear yellow over gold gives a very deep custom gold as well. A blend of Tamiya clears give endless possibilities but an airbrush is needed for that kind of work.
I've abandoned the Molotow chrome inks now and shifted allegiance to Green Stuff Worlds chrome inks. They do a brushable as well as a spray version. Both work really well and seem to be more durable than the Molotow inks.

Hannants are heavily discounting some of the Tamiya spray paint range, clear red and orange included. Worth hoovering up a decent amount if you see a candy red 1.8th scale '32 Ford in your future. Postage is the same for one can or twenty.
It's in the special offers part of the website menu. No gold shown on offer but I think Tamiya paint would go over Halfords type paint without problems. Don't hold me to that though!

Another one of my original `60s builds restored... Monogram`s kit of Steve Scotts recently found `Uncertain T`.
Luckily everything came apart fairly easily and any painted parts were stripped off ready for fresh paint and all the chrome parts were `rechromed`. The original front axle had one end missing so after a search through my parts box I found a dropped tube axle similar to the original.
A couple of `artistic licence` changes were the Antique Gold paint (instead of Tangerine `flake) and Whitewall tires on the rear, which I believe the 1/1 scale car never had!...

Once the models were out on the bench, the picture opportunities presented themselves.
Endless trying of different bases and pairings have got me to here so far.. All need a good dusting and a polish. Nothing major has dropped off in storage, which is a plus.

That'll never ride well with the front end coil bound as it is. When will folks ever learn? [emoji1787]

There's a bit of orange plastic showing... Orange Crate?
There's a bit of orange plastic showing... Orange Crate?
No, Orange Crate had a single round tube Chrome chassis!. It`s not about what WAS on it, it`s about what IS going on it!, something a bit different :thinks: ;)...

A kit bashed 1:24 1912 Model T Light Delivery Car (C-Cab) mounted on a Buttera `27 T tub tube frame. Not sure yet on colour but probably Gold base with translucent Red top coats.
Unfortunately the kit has no Brass or Chrome parts but that will hopefully be taken care of with Plastikote Brass spray and clear coat...

Very nice. It sits just about perfectly.
Regarding the lack of chrome you mention, there's a product called Green Stuff World Chrome. It comes in brush and airbrush form from Warhammer type suppliers. The airbrush type doesn't work for me, spraying a little flat. The brush on is a whole different matter. It really is like chrome. You need to get it on quickly and keep a wet edge. It then flows out in front of you to leave a near perfect finish.
It comes into its own when the brushable stuff is airbrushed. I tried it as an experiment and it worked really well. Here's the test mule, a 1.72 Boeing 707. It's much brighter than the Alclad finishes and it needs no black undercoat. The finish on the Boeing is over polished white, same as the fuselage top. I've sprayed it over bright red and it covers completely. It's good stuff.

It dries semi hard in that it can be handled but it will mark eventually. I haven't found a clear coat that doesn't dull it yet.
I have some of the Green Stuff World Chrome (brush on) Tony, oddly it appears to have a slightly yellowy `brass` look once dried even when tried on different colour base colours!. Maybe it was a faulty batch, who knows!.
Looks good on the Boeing though.
Started to apply some colour, as said, Gold base/Red clear top coats...
A bit more done over the weekend and it`s starting to look more like a car!.

Looks really good in colour now.
Every time I look at it, I see different things. A bit of Buttera, a bit of Coddington Some seventies vibes, more than a sprinkling of something from Daves Show Rod site or a cover from Street Rodder circa 1985. It's a very thought provoking build.

Definitely some Buttera in there Tony but mainly Dan Woods and inspired by his 1972 build of Bob Reed`s `09 `Country Butcher Shop` C-Cab, featured in and on the cover of the May `73 Street Rodder...

I`ve been wanting to build a similar 1/24th version for many years but no suitable kits were out there, those that were being Monogram, Revell, AMT etc and based around quirky show car styling|!. I wanted a complete stock vehicle to start with to get the look I wanted.
I found exactly what I wanted some time ago in the I.C.M. 1912 Model T `Gasoline Delivery` van `. I.C.M. are a Ukrainian company and among their catalogue of kits they produce quite a few various stock Model T cars, vans and trucks. I rate their moulding/detail quality better than the aforementioned US manufacturers, doubtlessly due to modern moulding techniques!. I also have an I.C.M. `1911 Model T Tourer` waiting to be done though I`m not sure yet whether to build stock or rod it as per the C-Cab...

That's a nice looking kit. Do the figures and gas cans come with it?
There are some really good products coming from that end of the world at the moment. It looks like you are sorted for wheels, but have you seen this site? I've seen some at model shows and they are quite incredible.

A bit spendy, and not really Rod Fodder but their Citroen SM looks stunning.
Yes, the 2 figures and some gas cans come with it Tony, but it can also be bought without the figures so slightly cheaper. Very nicely packaged/boxed too!.

Those wheels in the link look very nice!... but wheels?, yes I think I have enough of them for now!. The 4 W/W tires top left are off the very first hot rod kit model I ever made in 1962, Monograms `Red Chariot` model A Phaeton!... it was that kit that started me on the long slippery slope of small scale and full size hot rods!... :)

That's come together in a very pleasing way. You nailed it!
I like the way you did the figures, they add to the car rather than dominate it. I'm not sure how that works but I suspect not having face details has something to do with it. We seem to home in on eyes before anything else and not having any to follow means the car gets all the attention, and so it should.
Not at present Brian. I might find something for the colder months

Thanks Tony. I guess placed either side of the car the figures `frame` the car drawing ones eyes to the car itself.
The figures are another ICM kit of Henry Ford, his works manager and an assembly line worker, the `Henry` figures features actually look like the man himself!
63356
Same 2 figures on an R/C 1/25 Clyde Puffer, I just shortened Henrys over coat to jacket length and swapped the hats!
63357
I also used some modified 1/32 ICM German Luftwaffe Pilots as crew on an R/C E-Boat I built a few years ago, they add great character!...

I can see one or two of those ICM kits in my future.

Wow, the detail s so much better on the desktop PC
Very nice Steve, some neat detailing there, I`ve never been one for engine detail but yours looks good. I`ve never found anything that looks `scale` or realistic when it comes to plug leads fuel lines or electric cables etc, maybe I`m too fussy ...
The last time i did some real nice stuff i used some old cat 4 cable, like telephone stuff but not stripey, what's your secret Steve?

That's I used back in the 80's, my Stepfather used to work for BT, so I got plenty of wire. But now, I go to Hiroboy.com, model-cars.co.uk or tedsmodelingmarketplace.

Recently finished this resto of an AMT `40 Ford Sedan Delivery that`s been sitting collecting dust for a few decades!.
Washed all the parts to get rid of the dust and polished the body, repainted the interior and motor etc. The hub caps and trim rings, grill, and bumpers needed re-chroming and it then went back together... another dust collector for the shelf ...

It was only a matter of time!
A hot rod Bentley built from an Heller 1/25 blower Bentley with a side mounted GMC blower. Both the chassis and body were shortened giving it an Opus HRF appearance. Wheels/tyres from the parts box I think were from a Monogram `37 Ford sedan, I kept it Green as a nod to the usual blower Bentley`s being Green...
