Been thinking about making the bonnet sides bolt on/removable and welding the top halves together, making them hinge from the scuttle with an internal cable release.
Anyone done this? Just wondered what hinges/catch you used.
Thanks.

Not quite what you are after but Martyn Payne welded the two halves together, used Pilot hinges and the stock pulls to hold it shut.
Thinking about it, you could use a Prefect hood for most of what you want, hinges, catch etc.

Of course!
Period too :)
Anyone got one?
Pics of a prefects bonnet mech, hinges and cable would be great if anyone can help.

I don't think the Prefect used a cable. I'm pretty sure the 'aeroplane' twists to release the catch. Not sure about E04A's, are they rear hinged? How do they latch?
Crumble will no doubt be along in a while to explain.

E04A is the 'square nosed' Anglia, like Crumble's 'Kamikazi' gasser that's in Custom Car this month.

I guess another option is, bolt on removable sides and either stock 2 piece bonnet or one piece rear hinged held on with leather straps, full length, up and over style.
Im sure there was a drawing from a mag someone posted a while back which had that set up?

Yeah, i saw that, looks good. Didnt pay much attention to the details though, ill go have a look.
I dont want to use the prefect sheet metal though, just its hinges so i can hinge the anglias bonnet.

with a bit of care full measuring you might be able to use just the prefect bonnet trimmed down at the front, with the pop bonnet sides, i think it could be done.

thats interesting.
If i cant get the bonnet to work, are the hinges removable or part of the bonnet?
I guess ill keep my eyes open for a cheap one and try a few things out.
Dont really want to replace sheet metal as our car is origional patina.
