Blackpool rocks
It's been a while since I posted anything on here. A lot has happened, and a lot has changed.
10 weeks ago, my buddy Andy Jones, who worked with me, and a fellow petrolhead, and was a big part of the show at Blackpool, died suddenly! He was a month and a week younger than me. We had known each other from the age of 18 when we both cut our teeth with the Hotrod and Custom scene alongside what was then the Coastal Cruisers, here in Blackpool!
I could tell you some stories, but this is not the place.
To say that Andys passing has left a big hole would be an understatement!
However, as Andy would have wanted. The Show must go on.
Yes I still have some space for exhibits!

The NSRA are very fortunate to have an organisation that will always help promote the organisation at most opportunity and subsequently There will be three or four vehicles on display from your very own committee.
So the weekend of 28th/29th September with setup on the Friday evening, the 27th at
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...jpg%7Eoriginal
The Winter Gardens building in Blackpool town centre. We are directly behind Blackpool Tower.
There is so much to do in Blackpool I thought I might give you a quick glimpse of some of the things on offer. Most events set in a field or showground have to bring in all the entertainment. In Blackpool we turn tis concept totally on its head. If you want a weekend away or even a day out, there can be fewer places with so much to offer.
A few pics.
Friday night at around 8.30pm we have some of these, totally free, on the Promenade, 200 yds from the venue.

You may then fancy getting involved with some of these.

Plenty of those about, most weekends!

Or you may want to take part?
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...peg%7Eoriginal
We open Saturday at 10am and we have a few entertainment specialities for you during the show. Music, entertainment and general mayhem throughout the day. Including some of this...
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...jpg%7Eoriginal
The Looking Glass Burlesque Show, on a lovely Victorian style stage.
You may want to have a trip out and sample some of the other attractions...

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...jpg%7Eoriginal
Perhaps visit the Blackpool Tower Circus with the kids.

We have managed to obtain some FREE entry passes to Blackpool Pleasure Beach for Exhibitors and this will give you access to the Park any day over the weekend (There is normally an entry charge) You can then take your pick of any of the exciting and interesting rides and attractions on the Pleasure Beach. Or just soak up the atmosphere, which is unique in the World. The Grand National ride is 90 years old this year, and there is plenty to interest anyone who is alive.

518 feet an 9 inches high with a glass floor near the top!

Inside there are many attraction for everyone in the family. The kids will love Blackpool. Old or young-uns!
Of course you don't have to spend loads of money. There are so many things to do either for nothing or for very little.
Perhaps you may just want to take the air for a while
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...peg%7Eoriginal
Take a tram down the Prom and see the sights!
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...jpg%7Eoriginal
Of course, there are loads of pubs and clubs, some with live music, and some with....
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...jpg%7Eoriginal
There is nowhere else in the country quite like it and if you would like a weekend away either with mates or with the family then you could do far worse than a visit to Blackpool.
Alongside....
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...jpg%7Eoriginal
You might just have a bit of fun.....
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...peg%7Eoriginal
Or just go and have afternoon tea...
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...jpg%7Eoriginal
Haha....

Gonna be on hols this year so gutted we are gonna miss this Shaun, last year was a great weekend.

Well we're almost there and believe it or not, still have space for exhibitors!
If there is anyone that wants to come just for single days then we may be able to do something, but it will have to be quick!
I have had a few requests for exhibitors to attend either just Sat or Sun. If you are one of those then you will have to e-mail me and I will try and put a list together so that you can be accomodated.
It means you will have to be there before 9.15 in the morning and you will have to stay until we are closed after 5pm.
E-mail me on Hotrodshow@mail.com and I will try and arrange things
I have a 'SPECIAL' vehicle Exhibit coming in on Sunday, that you all will know and will enjoy seeing.
There are quite a few interesting 'Shows' on over the coming weekend.
On the Friday evening (besides the Fireworks Spectacular on the Prom. which is FREE by the way) there is a Show within the Winter Gardens Complex.
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...c.jpg~original
Now this Show isn't particularly cheap but promises to be something out of the ordinary!!
Remember this guy? He's in the show.

Along with numerous others. If I can I will try for a discount for anyone that fancies going!
There is another interesting event taking place on the Saturday Night. This is set in the beautiful Tower Ballroom (which is only 200yards from the Winter Gardens) If you or the better half enjoy dancing 'Old School' then it promises to be an entertaining evening.
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...9.jpg~original
You can even Dress in Vintage and take lessons with the experts before the Show starts!
Live Bands
Cheap to go!
And in one of the most fantastic settings imaginable..
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...b.jpg~original
The Blackpool Tower Ballroom!
If you fancy a trip down the Prom then why not have a visit to Notariannis Ice Cream parlour?
This is the best Home made Ice Cream that I know of.
In South Shore on the way to the Pleasure Beach
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...b.jpg~original
They have an Ice Cream Parlour where they produce Knickerbocker Glory's and all manner of fruit Sundaes.Along with decent Italian Coffees and decent tea.
Of course you could just have a take away such as a small 99 with peanuts. Try it, you'll love it!
There is more parking in Blackpool than anyother Northern town apparently! You could just park up and take a short walk or a tram ride to the town centre (Tower) and find The Winter Gardens directly behind the Blackpool Tower. Or you could just aim for the venue and park in the Multistory directly opposite at FY1 4NY
The weather forecast is good for this weekend but remember, Blackpool is an 'all weather' resort with loads to do at any time of day or night!
Wanna come?
Hotrodshow@mail.com
Cheers.

Well! What a weekend!
My feet hardly touched the floor.
I would really like to thank all who took part, all who visited, and all that enjoyed it!
We had some lovely cars, some lovely people and some really stunning weather (which didn't help me!)
The inclusion of Celestial really made everything worthwhile. What a lot of people don't know is that around mid day we had a visitor! Non other than Ian Etheridge himself! He was persuaded by his niece Naomi to come and see the show.
When he walked in the loading doors (there was no fanfare) he stopped, looked round and appeared to be totally in awe at the scene.
The first thing he said was " Wow! who would have believed this, and that smell, the smell of an Indoor Show it's unique!" We walked forward a few feet into the Hall and Ian stopped, all he said was "My car, my cars here, I don't believe it!"
I have to say that the car has survived remarkably well, and is testament to the man that built and painted it.
Now Ian has always been one to sit in the shadows, he would never, ever get up on stage and accept a trophy, it was usually his niece, Naomi that would do the honours, she was (and still is) a lovely girl and really enjoyed the show scene back in the day. She would often wear her 'Celestial Girl' jacket along with her custom painted name badge and pendent.
This was her and me back in 1983
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...jpg%7Eoriginal
Now that was 30 years ago!
And
Guess what?
We actually had Myself, Ian, Naomi, the current owner of Celestial, Steve and Naomis' son Bailey all on stage!
(And guess what? I don't have a picture! I know a man who probably has and will post it as soon as poss.)
Ian has volunteered to help Steve touch up some of the paintwork (chips and things) and seemed to be generally excited at the prospect.
Truly A day and an event I will never forget! Wonderful!
