It`s great to know it`s so close Mark. If possible try and run it around locally to iron out any problems before any show time. Mainly for any fluid leak checks and engine temp stability issues, and also trans leaks/shifting issues. It`s better to find them close to home than on your way to a show and miles from home. All that hard work is about to pay off......enjoy. :thumbsup2:

will I get it polished in time for Friday? not sure - it took 3 hours tonight to get it this far and its not all done yet! it's also only the first cut with 1200 grit so it might be tight.

maybe get another snorkel scoop and cut n shut some out of the 'waisted' centre bit for a lower profile. it'd be the look you like but with better visibility, win win. take a side on pic and cut it about to see, or if you're really flash photoshop it.
Funny enough its the waisted bit I can see around, the top is the obstruction.
I'll probably get used to it - no worst than some blown cars.

Not sure what you mean Steve? I did most of the car but left the front end as it was stored separately and had just not got round to it with all the other jobs and the house move.

Ah, right. Lights go on as they also double up as the fixings for the flip front to the steel frame. Badge was only loosely fitted with the grill trims as it was easier to move the car complete than in boxes during house move - less likely to lose anything that way.Quote:

Also working through the snag list - weeping thermostat housing turned out to be a banana shaped face on the housing surface :dunno: no wonder I could not get it to stop. A stint on the linisher saw it nice & flat again so with some RTV sealant applied it should now be leak free.
Whenever I feel sluggish on my Pop, I check your determination and progress. It rejuvenates me! Thanks.

Took it out for a little run on the proper roads today (gulp!) brakes are improving - I can get the rears to lock up a bit now so I think a little more bias to the fronts will help. Hopefully they will bed in and work better soon - I have a few avenues to follow to upgrade if they don't. Video to follow soon as youtube uploads it (rubbish sound though :( )

Ross, Canon 5D with 70-200 lens for the long shots and a 17-40 lens for the wide angle.
Scoop is not ideal for driving I have to be honest, it may get changed for a different one in the future. It unbolts quickly so might get taken off for longer journeys.
It drives pretty well considering the steering is way off (need to get it tracked asap) and the spring rates are only guessed when building.
Took it to a local show today about 6 miles away - hands were shaking when I got there lol! Bit cold without the glass so need to get that sorted asap as well. I got the rear sides templated this afternoon and started on the door glass templates so should have the windows sorted in the next couple of weeks.
Brakes are ok but I think some upgrades are required to get them to the level I will be happy with.

I'm going to fit a new .625" M/C (.75 fitted) which Kev thinks should sort the front brakes. I might also downsize the rear mc too from .75 to .7 or .625 depending on some travel measurements at the M/C pistons.
I bought a laser tracking tool and set the tracking last night - 2 degrees toe out!!! No wonder it pulled to the left and was skittish! Now set at just under 1 degree toe in so i'll try it tomorrow to see how it drives now, should be a whole lot better (since been advised that 1 degree is too much?)
Nearly sorted door glass templates, hope to get the lot to the glass cutters this weekend so hopefully only a week or so to have those fitted.

New .700 M/C turned up today so will fit that shortly, this should hopefully see the brakes working good.
Another package was some mirrors. Now ideally for looks no mirrors would be fitted but it's a car and it gets driven so mirrors are a must. As such the choice is very limited but someone on here recommended 'California' mirrors and I'm reasonably happy with the look of them - not perfect but they blend in well and do suit the overall look of the car so about the best I could find.

I need some convex glasses though - passenger one is not very good with the flat glass. Found some on evilbay but not sure if they fit - I'll try one to see.

Those mirrors look good Mark, they fit in with the styling of the scoop and wing.
The place where your getting the glass cut should be able to help with the mirror glass!.
Im not impressed with the glass company, they've had templates a week and not even got a price yet, let alone started the job?
Update....spoke to the glass company, another 2 weeks :( and they cant cut the mirror.
I'm going to get a dremel diamond cutter and have a go, maybe glass company can polish the edges after if I'm sucessful.
The mirrors really suit the car with the curvy shapes blending with the curvy shapes on the car itself

It's currently stripped down again on the stands with tape & paint spots from plumblines all over the floor. Not got all of the lines drawn up yet but it's obvious the rear axle is not in line, which confirms my thoughts. Once all measurements are worked out I can adjust it to get it all square.

As I could not find convex glass for the mirrors I bought a bigger glass & had a go at cutting it out with the Dremel (glass company said it could not be done!), pretty pleased with the results. I'll buy more glass and cut it out better as this was with a cheapy wheel and it's chipped the edge in a few places. Happy with the results for first attempt though and the mirror is much more useable now.

Maybe cut the next one a little oversize and then linish the edges to finish it to size? I know glaziers use belt linishers for cleaning and polishing glass edges, you just have to be careful not to get it too hot.
