Asbo's pop goes blown small block

That rust looks like it`s eaten into the bore, the chances are any rust that may have been sitting proud of the bore has been `wiped` off when the motor was first started up a couple of weeks ago. An inspection of the piston skirt may show this!

Can`t quite make it out in your photo Matt, but is that the crank counter weight, and is that a shiny patch on it? Maybe caused by it wiping the bottom of the piston skirt. A quick check of the underside of that piston skirt may show scuff marks!...

Just realised that`s the con rod of the opposing piston! :rolleyes:...

pushed wrist pins out --- number 5 where I thought the noise was small end of rod looks like this ,,,,, looks like I may have fkd it when put together..

Mate, there’s a good positive here. You found something that’s not looking like a smooth operator. And it is damage where you think it should have been!
time to check them all and come up with a plan!!

ye i think we may have found our noise - i will check the rest but think a set of rods like should have used in first place is on cards.. gonna clean the bores up and get rods and gasket set ordered up ...after measuring up the rust in bore was below where piston would touch so that wasnt our noise...

Get your self some fog it spray for the long periods of non running to protect the bores and valve seats

good plan will get some and get it all protected - be a couple weeks till its all back together for sure -
