hi mark good to see you have got your shafts ,just for info why did the flanges need turning down as am interested to find out
We did specify 6 1/8" dia flanges but Strange just sent their std 6 1/4" so we needed to turn them down to fit the discs over them.The discs have a small ridge/radius as well so the flanges needed a chamfer as well for the discs to seat flat against them.

Fitted the halfshaft bearings at Wayne's and then got back home to fit the axle together. Fitted the new LSD diff so that was all good, one less chunky bit to trip over.
Then went to fit the halfshafts, popped straight in no problem ......good. Went to fit the caliper brackets.......not so good. The new halfshaft bearings are 5mm wider than the ones on the original shafts so stick out of the axle casing 3mm.
F**k. Not an insurmountable problem, but my nice powder coated brackets are now in the bin and new ones will need to be cut to fit the bigger bearings - ******ks :(
To top it off I can't find the caliper sliding pins either :bang: I remember painting them but for the life of me I can't find them now :mad: searched the entire garage & loft but they are no-where.
Don't suppose anyone has a set for MkI Granada rear calipers? or knows where to buy more?
Bound to find them again if I buy new ones :duh:
Get Wayne to cut you some 3mm spacer plates Mark. No point in wasting good brackets if they are made/painted already.
hi mark shame about the brackets ,you are not the only one who cant find bits I have a new wiper motor hidden away in the garage and cant find so have got another one so it will be one less part to but for next project when I find it ,hope you get the bracket sorted soon

Not that simple.
I already had cut the original backplates down to make the correct spacer, but the new bearings stick out an extra 3mm beyond that. Original bearings were 18mm and the new ones are 23mm with that new style bearing seal.
The caliper brackets originally doubled up as bearing retainers, I now need to open the holes up from 46mm to 80mm dia, if it were just that I would trim them to fit, but I now need 5mm thick plate instead of 6mm so I'll get a local company to me to laser cut them in high grade steel so the thinner steel wont ever flex.
These will now work as the bearing 'spacer' so the new bearing retainers from Strange will just nip the bearing tight when clamped down on the brackets. This does mean it shifts the calipers off centre to the discs, so spacers will need to go under the bolts on those too :(
Allen, Good news though, I finally found the caliper slider pins - only took 3 hours!!!!:no:

Cheers mate, ordered the new caliper brackets today, laser cut in stainless. Got an extra set cut so will have that set for sale soon if anyone wants them.
If any of you have followed my other threads you will know I ordered some axle flanges laser cut & I screwed up on my drawings, so some very expensive scrap :shake:

Well some good news :)
A begging email to the company http://www.sorblasercutting.co.uk/ resulted in them offering to re cut them free of charge!! result :D
Also my friend in the States has finally replied, he is on the road so not picking up mail regularly and has found out that the parts were held in US customs (poss declared value too low? :whistle: ) but paperwork was re-sent so they should be somewhere between there & UK customs now. Hopefully I will get them next week?

Finally got some tracking numbers for my packages from the States, but it would appear they may not have left US customs yet :thumbsdown: though their tracking is a few days behind and is not updated yet - so maybe I might get them soon???
Anyway, I've been trying to keep my Mojo up and have been drilling big holes in my nice shiny paintwork :eek: so I can fit the wiring loom trunking. This has proved a bit of a challenge as the cables take up a fair bit of room and I had not really planned for that :(
The glands only come in red, but I've been told they can be dyed black with ordinary clothes dye, so that will be done at a later date.
These fittings are totally water and gas tight, so no fumes will enter the car :)
