Then I polished both the engine bay inner wings, no photos of those though.
wow!!!! amazing mark, your getting the hang of this painting lark now!!! lol
Things are looking up now, I got the free replacement laser cut caliper brackets back today.
Also Andy Robinson http://www.robinson-race-cars.co.uk/ has got my new T bolts for the plates, arrived in 5 days, excellent service and really nice guy - highly recommended.
The original **** up ones are on the right, the new ones on the left. I designed them to follow the contours of the Strange bearing retaining plates.

They bolt on like this;

And calipers fit on here.

All done.

All I need to do now is find the other 2 caliper bolts that have mysteriously hidden themselves and the other side can go on.
looking good wheels on soon ,i have got the same type of bolts that like playing hide and seek ,:lol:
I drilled holes in the exhaust today, not to make them lighter :D

but to fit these Lambda sensor bungs and blanking plugs. Not going to use them straight away, but something for the future before the headers get hot metal coated.

I also spoilt the garage fairies fun by using some 10mm Allen bolts for the caliper brackets, so no doubt they will return the original bolts soon :p
Although the caliper brackets are stainless I decided to paint them anyway, keeps it all looking the same.
Just went for speed rather than finish, so 4 coats of paint - 2 primer & 2 topcoat, laid wet on wet over 40 minutes.

Garage fairies returned the missing bolts, but they had hidden them on top of the axle stand in the protective cloth.........which the axle had been sitting on......so some nice big gouges in the paint which will need repainting now
I reckon you just like repainting things Mark, your getting pplenty of practise
Lol Steve, think the axle will only see a paintbrush this time.
[:D] Yes, it's true! scratches & chips disappear easily with s good quality artists brush .....ssshhhhh.. don't tell anyone!
Good news, parts arrived today! Yay!!

glad to see you have your parts you can now get on with lots of stuff now
Yep, it will be nice to fire it up in the near future, might even be in danger of driving it in the car park behind the garage by the summer!
now that would make all the hard work worth it dont forget to do a video so we can all share
You got some shopping there Mark, it's all moving along well. Do you have a particular event in mind for the debut, or is it just done when it's done?
Cheers. Tim W.
Hi Tim, it was meant to hopefully come out for the hot rod drags, but it looks more like wheels day next year now.
Duller progress tonight, I got all the rear axle & brakes bolted in for the final time last night and tonight I got the gearbox back in so I can check on the propshaft length for getting one made and also for routing the speedo cable. Gearbox yet to be rebuilt & painted.
Cable fitted with temporary clips,

And routing to speedo (needs to route through the panel yet) Not sure if this radius is too tight? seem to remember somewhere that 6" radius was about the tightest it should go?
