Mounts welded, need to finalise the welding on the steering boss attachment.
I Put another tab on the support due to single sheer can move regardless of how tight the bolt is.
Off to Santa pod for the weekend crewing for a friend so next update might be in the week.

I'm just going to finish off a few bits of welding while Tom's away .
It does mate, start looking more complete in the dry build mode!
There’s nothing saying my weldings any good you might aswell go over the lot lol!
I will get the arc welder out and tidy it all up lol.
Hi all!
After a very busy and successful September at the race track followed by a busy October, I’m back and cracking on with the Austin.
First bit of progress is the brake pedal mounting, positioned and mocked up, then the mounting system made and welded in.
the floor will have to have a slight raise in as wanted to keep it tucked up from under the car. A minor compromise really.
Then on to the driver side door bar, the car soon starts getting tight when things are added but still room for me so that’s good!
Good to see you back at it Tom.

would it be worth fabbing the floors etc that are inside the car before welding the door bars in? access will be much better without them to climb over.
neil.
I'm sure they will the the last thing welded in the car.
Yes mate, they won’t be welded in till all the other things are done, I need to make them up for positioning of other parts but they don’t need welding in yet
i assumed that'd be the plan but thought it worth mentioning just in case :thumbs_up_smiley:

Today saw some slow progress! Still getting back in to the swing of things with jet lag!
Today I had a little clean up of the door bar notches and pretty much finalised there position.
I then got the plasma cutter out and trimmed a bit more metal out of the original inner arches to get a straight edge to make the lip that the tubs will sit against.
Here’s how I got on.
It's all progress Tom, jet lagged or not mate.
Cheers Tim W

Yah man! Happy with what i got done.
soon I’ll be converting the bead roller to electric, hopefully that goes to plan then can learn how to mess up bead rolls electronically rather than manually haha!!
Tin work may start developing soon but won’t be fixed in untill I’ve got some bits under the floor sorted for ease.
Last night gasser racer nick came over to return some more favours! Had a little bend up of a harness bar / link for seat support.
Came out well, after a bit of consideration of selling my current tube bender to fund a newer more modern style at the moment I have put that on hold as it is a very good old school machine that is just so robust. I thought about it less when working with it last night and got a good result, it’s a difficult thing to learn tube bending. And there characteristics of different machines that don’t relay to this one. There will be more time when the cars finished to really look in to getting some top quality bends.
You can see where the bend has folded up in the picture. You could sand fill it prior to bending.i do this when i bend box section
Maybe I’m being a bit naive , it could be the picture as in the real I thought it was actually quite a good bend.
It’s on quite a good machine.I think it will bust the former if filled.
