Hi!
As mentioned before, Fred made it down to adjust the band on the freshened up gearbox so that’s another job ticked!
The brakes seem to be pretty good now, leak wise I have a weep from a banjo that shouldn’t be a hard fix.
I mentioned a brake stopper previously, this is because when working on the brakes I noticed a clear issue.
The brake pedal could lift up, that could then pull the push rod out the master cylinder, the push rod is on a rose joint so that soon swings down out the way not in the master, bad times no brake pedal.
Looking at this I thought this could happen getting in the car, getting out the car catching the pedal, launch, tyre shake? A big bump. Not cool.
The plan was made to make a little stopper to stop the above coming off the chassis with an adjustable bolt to contact the rose joint / pedal.
Once that was done I could tweak the pedal a bit. A little trim, slight move of the pedal pad and some holes.
Nice work Tom

I’m having to take a little bit of time away from the cold workshop at the mo, I’ve been rough for about 2 weeks and seem to be in to round 2 at the moment so after work I’m chillin. Hoping to be back at the workshop at the weekend
3 weeks in to feeling rough and getting very little workshop time in after work because if that I finally ventured in today.
I got the brake pedal stopper buttoned up and the pedal splashed with some paint.
I Painted the brake reservoir cover just some grip tape required on top now.
I’ve Swapped some bolts out for some shorter ones as the length was not needed.
I’ve also managed to Sliced my thumb open a treat so that’s great.
I also got the shield mocked up on the gear box. I’m hoping to get that finished up in the week.
I’ve knocked up a new under wrap for the gear box shield and started sorting the dipstick
Thats interesting! What does it do, why is it necessary? Never seen / heard of such a thing, but I have led a sheltered life! I'm OK with the ideas of clutch cans, trans blankets, blower restraints, prop loops, engine diapers.... but this one's got me.

Is that a pan catcher ?
Seen that sorta thing on offroaders like a pan guard.
It’s the under wrap for the trans shield, you have to run a shield over the gear set and flex plate. The gear set shield is bolted to the case. The under wrap is bolted to the shield. If the gear set goes wrong and destroys the casing the shield technically is not fixed on any more as the case is potentially destroyed. With this being attached to the shield it keeps it around the gear box. It’s a very common part on most race cars. You either run this or a blanket, or if the budget allowed the best option, an after market case
Ah ha, thanks! Only gonna retain the big bits though, and none of the juice!

Indeed bits will still fly but the top shield makes sure they go down wards and the wrap makes sure the shield keeps in place.
We’re talking worse case scenarios here as said above, think of Don.
with this power level it’s unlikely, but if you want to run in MSA racing you have to have it, irrespective of that, the gear box don’t know that it’s MSA or not so I can’t see the point in not running one when using a TransBrake.
It’s a bit like other items that you ‘only need’ in certain races… the concrete wall is still the same wall.
This car is fundamentally for a RWYB class but safety is key
After 5 weeks of being unwell I finally had to stop and go to the doctors. Respiratory infection was the diagnosis! Fantastic, had a few of these before and they do knock me down. Anti biotics on full flow and not much sleep I finally feel like I’m getting better.
With a reasonable nights sleep last night I thought I would take a drive to the workshop today just to have a mince. I didn’t stay too long, normally a good 8 hours but today wasn’t an option for that.
I did get the motor cleaned up a bit better. All I need to do for the trans is sort the dip stick fixing.
I might Swing these in soon so that’ll be cool.
Lot of it about. Slowly does it. Last thing you need is another dose as antibiotics will struggle too clear it ...progress all the same ... get on with parts lists in the warm

Yeah I think I’m on round 2 and that was what done me!
I’ve got a few more tablets to take to finish the course I won’t be swerving them I know that.
There is not much needed mate as it was pretty much built before the tear down!
There’s a few things it will need mainly for final assembly bolts ect but it’s all there really.
A little bit of tinkering today, I’ll sort out the proper bolts next and get it bolted in properly. Just a little bit of lathe work ok some bolts should sort it
Always good progress getting the motor back in the chassis !
Some more tinkering today.
Some bolt lengths altered for the motor plate to chassis and plate to block.
Gear box mount in
Alternator
Engine travel limiter bolts altered and fitted
Coolant inlet and fill fitted
A couple of fuel lines in position
