A bit of progress on my car for a change!
I bought an oil cooler a few weeks back but I've only just had time to make a start on fitting it. These are the MkII brackets (MkI just visible in background) I got these made at work https://storage.proboards.com/forum/...miley/wink.png

For the front support I bought some 6mm rod ends and fitted them into a bit of 8mm OD tube.

The tube has the nuts welded in and ground circular, fitting kit completed here apart from the 'T' bracket that will need to be welded at work on Monday.
I'll get them powder coated next week. Not visible, there are 2 rubber bobbins on the bottom mount.

Trail fitted in the car - hoses will need to be ordered as soon as I get time to go over to Think Automotive.

A 6" stretch in wheelbase would sort it....:D
Bits came back from the powder coaters today, nice https://storage.proboards.com/forum/...ley/smiley.png all parts look good.
https://img.retro-rides.org/i/v/blac...30364bd365.jpg
And assembled to the cooler. The nuts have been painted so once it's dry it can be assembled to the car.

Time to fix the damage to the front end.
The front is removed and propped up for repairs.

Easy access for work on the engine https://storage.proboards.com/forum/...ley/smiley.png

The tape bits are marking all the areas where there are stone chips.

I forgot to take photos of the repairs, but I'm not finished yet so I'll add some now.
With the paint scuffed back lightly I painted in some black paint. it's been flatted off here with 400 grit wet n dry as this is the third bit of touching in on this chip.

I will need to spray one part as I've broken through to the primer here.
https://img.retro-rides.org/i/v/blac...168c44c6c6.jpg
These were the really deep chips from the brick or whatever it was that hit it. They are mostly filled in here, hopefully the last touch in.
https://img.retro-rides.org/i/v/blac...7741921da9.jpg
The dull area is where some of the other chips have been flatted back with 2500 wet n dry ready for polishing.

And the same dull area after the first coarse cut with the polishing mop.

Almost there, last bit blown in tonight.
https://img.retro-rides.org/i/v/blac...35a9c13edd.jpg
Almost done, all new paint flatted back to 2500 grit, (I've run out of 3000)
https://img.retro-rides.org/i/v/blac...523fdbe6ff.jpg
One little dip still left to fill
https://img.retro-rides.org/i/v/blac...5ddeb4c4c0.jpg
Blown in section flatted off as well.
https://img.retro-rides.org/i/v/blac...e3f219505f.jpg
I started polishing some of this area which was going really well......right up to the point where it cut through to the primer again https://storage.proboards.com/forum/...iley/angry.png not the same place, a bit further along. This is an area of a previous repair and the paint is not as thick as the rest of the front.
Ho hum, just have to paint it again.
Even with the front off, you call that easy access. You must bendy arms. :)
Rear plugs are a little tight, but I did build most of it to be easy to work on.
Remember these?

I smoked the indicators while they were off as well.
Me & my friend Andy went to the Bagshot Breakfast meet today, I was hoping Andy Carter might have his Pop there as it's just back on the road again, and thought it would be good to get photos of his & mine together.
When we arrived he was there and there were empty parking spaces next to him, result!
Twins! Think mine looks better though
Well there would be a lot more photos but as the forum only allows a max of 8 photos per post, and it thinks the photo above is 8 photos you will all have to miss out
Think it thought 8 of the same back view was more than enough!
I wondered what happened to Andy’s pop, it seemed to appeard then vanish, I think everyone was hoping he would return to racing and was doing some modifications!
