That`s a neat diorama John! :thumbs_up_smiley:, must be the Pop Eliminations :D. I like the battery and jump leads by the woody too, a nice touch!
I`ve been busy on my building board since Christmas, restoring a Lindberg 1/8TH scale `BIG `T` that I bought some years ago off e.bay (usa). Some parts were already broken off mainly due to the original builders very sparing use of cement, something that helped me when striping it completely apart for restoration.
The previous horrible hand painted Blue paint had to go using Deluxe Materials `Strip Magic` which works like Nitromors but wont harm plastic, once striped it washes off with Methylated Spirit then warm soapy water. Dry and it`s ready for paint!
Half of one side of the frame was missing so that had to be built along with the windshield frame which was also missing, this I made from a length of steel rod bent to shape.
A major problem was much of the chrome had faded on the front axle, rocker covers and headlights and the new windshield frame etc. This was fixed using `Molotow Liquid Chrome` which comes in a felt tip style pen and simply brushes on, the tips come in varying widths and it does look like chrome!
I have many more kits to build but wanted to restore this `T` as a sister rod to my restored Monogram `Big T` that my parents bought me for Christmas 1962...

That looks great Brian. I'm tempted to get one of those pens for an ongoing project. See how time goes for this year before 'garage time' starts back up !

I've got a big T that I built years ago, found it in a box in the garage the other day looking very sorry for itself, pieces fallen or broken off! It will get redone eventually, probably when I'm in a nursing home with nothing else to do!!!:thumbs_up_smiley:
I'm a bit partial to a build or two.
Tony.

I spend far too much time on there Maurice [emoji849]

That`s a nice selection of old kits Tony, had a few of them in the past!.
The Red and White Monogram 1930 model A Phaeton in the centre was the first ever hot rod model I built in 1962, the kit was called `Red Chariot` and at the time it was just the Red version with no custom options in the kit!
Finally decided to restore my Monogram 1/8th `32 roadster that I originally built in the `70s, just the frame and a few more pieces to find that I know are `somewhere`!. House moves and storage haven`t been kind to many of my old models and although I have around 50 unmade kits still in their boxes, I`m enjoying restoring the old ones :)...

The big Monogram kits have always been a favourite with me. I get the urge to modify them a bit though...

Those two Monogram Big Deuces were given added Fink appeal many years ago. Those, and a few others, were regulars at the Essex Nationals Model Show. I was a member of the South London Auto Modeller club (SLAM), and we sorted the model displays at the Nationals for a few years.
We used to have monthly meets at the Shirley Poppy pub. It's a Macdonalds now.
I have the 1/25th Golden T but never seen the 1/8th kit of it Stephen.
I think there`s been around 6 or so re-releases of the Monogram Big T including the `Big Rod` show and go T, the `Big Drag` competition roadster, the 3 in 1 kit (can be built original style, `60s style and rat look) and the fad style `Custom Street and Go Pickup`; I have the last 2 still unmade.
Wouldn`t mind a 1/8th `Big tub`, always liked the look of it...
The Big Tub got a re-release a while back I think. I've missed it both times around.
Got me a Big T though, built and boxed. I walked into the IPMS Telford show one year and a dealer had a mint one on his shelves. It took all my spending money for the weekend, but it's one of the best kits in my collection. I've never regretted buying it.

Beautiful colours on the covers, all B+W inside though.
The first ever issue had a article on building a model of the Pierson Brothers coupe. All you needed was a Monogram '34 Coupe, a Black Widow T and a Midget Racer! That lot would set you back a few quid these days.

When I build it I've already decided to buy a small fish tank to keep it in, and the idea is to turn it into a diorama of a garage with the car inside. Although I don't have the scanner/printer anymore, I was at one stage going to make 1:8 scale copies of spare parts boxes and a 1/8 scale NSRA calendar on the wall. Perhaps when I've got my actual car finished...... is frightening though, I was only 29 when I bought it.Sent from my SM-T810 using NSRA mobile app
I'm reworking a 1/24 model i built when i was 22, with another that was bought when i was 38
Your `Golden T` looks identical to my 1/8th `Street and Show T` but with the chrome changed to `brass`, Stephen ... much the same as they did with the Golden `Little T`.
I hope yours still glues OK, though I`ve noticed the plastic on the larger kits appears somehow different and parts can detach from the completed kit if not careful! :o

They are big John, 16.5" overall length, 8" high!...
I`ve kit bashed my Golden Little T with narrower rear tyres/wheels and an Olds motor from an old Revell accessory custom parts pack...

I raked through my model parts boxes and managed to find most of the parts of the Monogram `Uncertain T` that I built in the late `60s. Seeing as the full size rod recently resurfaced (now owned by Bo Boekmann and to be restored by Dave Shuten), I thought it only appropriate to restore mine!.
I originally left the body White (as it came from the box) but the parts I did paint have now been stripped (using Strip Magic) and all parts still glued together have been separated for cleaning/rebuilding and re-chroming.
My main problem ATM is finding a suitable Tangerine Metallic/Candy paint in a spray can as I don`t own an air brush!...
Attachment 61395
The rear wheels/tyres cleaned up, the lower one also re-chromed...

A decent candy tangerine can be had by starting with a base of Tamiya gold followed by Tamiya clear orange. Both are available in spray cans. Clear yellow over gold gives a very deep custom gold as well. A blend of Tamiya clears give endless possibilities but an airbrush is needed for that kind of work.
I've abandoned the Molotow chrome inks now and shifted allegiance to Green Stuff Worlds chrome inks. They do a brushable as well as a spray version. Both work really well and seem to be more durable than the Molotow inks.
Cheers Tony, I`ll give that a try on some scrap plastic!.
We used to have a large model shop locally in Havant that stocked all makes/types of model paints including American brands of candies and metallic`s, the place never appears to be open since Christmas!...
Great stuff, it's all online now for me although there was a limited stock in hobby craft the other day
Hannants are heavily discounting some of the Tamiya spray paint range, clear red and orange included. Worth hoovering up a decent amount if you see a candy red 1.8th scale '32 Ford in your future. Postage is the same for one can or twenty.
It's in the special offers part of the website menu. No gold shown on offer but I think Tamiya paint would go over Halfords type paint without problems. Don't hold me to that though!

These two were sat on the same sheet of glass and the shot taken from overhead. I moved the glass around until the shadows and reflections were as good as I could get them. A couple of photoflood lamps would have made things easier.

Great work Tony, all it takes is a bit of imagination! :thumbs_up_smiley: ...
Some excellent work in this thread, most likely doesn't get the amount of views it deserves ,love that photography work too Mr headsoff :thumbsup2:
Another one of my original `60s builds restored... Monogram`s kit of Steve Scotts recently found `Uncertain T`.
Luckily everything came apart fairly easily and any painted parts were stripped off ready for fresh paint and all the chrome parts were `rechromed`. The original front axle had one end missing so after a search through my parts box I found a dropped tube axle similar to the original.
A couple of `artistic licence` changes were the Antique Gold paint (instead of Tangerine `flake) and Whitewall tires on the rear, which I believe the 1/1 scale car never had!...

Superb. That's a very tidy rebuild. What brand of paint did you use? It looks spot on for gold metalflake in that scale.
And finally got round too finishing this. A few bits were missing and sort of lost interest and had other jobs on but its finished. Pack up the diorama till next winter. Time too play with the real cars Attachment 61733Attachment 61734Attachment 61735Attachment 61736Attachment 61737Attachment 61738

I've spent the morning sorting out old builds to take to the Mildenhall Model Show on Saturday. It's at the Jubilee Center, Mildenhall IP28 7HG. There's usually a decent amount of car models in amongst the olive green and aircraft stuff.
Once the models were out on the bench, the picture opportunities presented themselves.
Endless trying of different bases and pairings have got me to here so far.. All need a good dusting and a polish. Nothing major has dropped off in storage, which is a plus.

At the moment there are two of us on the stand. If more turn up my lot will get thinned out a bit, I'm a club guest for the day.
